Charged with murder and fearing for his life in an overcrowded Peruvian prison, Joran van der Sloot reportedly wants to make a deal: He says he'll lead Aruban officials to Natalee Holloway's remains if he gets a transfer to a prison in the Caribbean island.

According to Radio Netherlands Worldwide, 22-year-old van der Sloot is claiming he will discuss the location of Holloway's body with Aruban officials only if he is sent back to Aruba, where he was twice arrested but never charged in the 2005 disappearance of the Alabama teen.

I hope they don't give into him, I don't trust him to tell the truth at all. He deserves to do some hard time in a no-nonsense prison.

To moccasinlanding: I assure you it is Blue Mammoth I have tried in the past. To Ken: I have yet to find anything left at the door; although I had to adapt quickly back in 2011 when my mother brought to me BOTH T-Rex and Blue Mammoth. And yes I smiled and did say thank you very nicely. Having both WAS NOT my plan at that moment. She is threatening to "share" some of her Mouse Ears next summer (not sure what variety she is talking about as of yet. Honesty I do get nearly 100% sun for about 2 to 3 hours from about noon in my garden (working on eliminating that next year). 'Popcorn' simply dropped its green in August; it did have an intense gold yellow as it faded. I thought that moment was exciting. 'Vulcan' took off, and exploded into growth making every other hosta look bad last year. 'Gorgon' was a close second in that department. 'Frosted Mouse Ears' and 'Holy Mouse Ears' each seem to have settled in with polite growth. 'Xanadu Empress Wu' was planted in August, and that even tried to take off by growing leaves that were twice the size of what it came with. In short I am expecting a 86% (18 out of 21 plants) survival rate next spring with only three plants not coming up (as mentioned at my blog). Those being ... Blue Mammoth, Itsy Bity Spider, and Popcorn. Naturally they have the option of surprising me, and appearing on cue. Everything else looked in good shape when I cut everything back Mid-October for their long winter nap! Finally Ken, to be honest, I do have a few theories as to why my 2013 survival rate was 56% (from 18 hosta to 10 hosta). I can't discuss those until I see what happens next spring (2014; trying to be objective here folks). Hint keep watching my blog for a lengthy narrative on that topic there. I've done two loads of laundry in the new Cabrio HE top-loader. I don't think I have anything negative to say about how the clothes cleaned. I did use more detergent than this forum says one should. Using Tide HE, I filled to the "1" mark. It was late, I was tired and well, it kinda looked like a 1 tbls measure (g) It's not. It's at least 2x that if not more. The first load felt a little "thick" after drying. Towels weren't "crunchy" tho. I may not have even noticed it if I wasn't looking for a difference. The work clothes load (jeans and dark tees) felt ok. I'm going to reduce it to 1 tbls and hope that the over powering scent is less as well. Didn't add Oxy or vinegar to either load. Couldn't remember which dispenser the vinegar went in and had already loaded the clothes when I read that the oxy powder would have to go in the bottom of the washer BEFORE the clothes if using liquid soap. The vinegar goes in the fabric softener dispenser, right? 1/2 cup? I don't use liquid fs or the sheets. I don't care for the feeling of "limp" clothes and I know it creates a build up, not to mention towels aren't as absorbent. All my clothes washing life, I've washed towels, washcloths, underwear, socks together. I did it with this first load too, on the normal cycle, warm/cold, high spin. I saw no twisting issues. Can I/should I not combine these articles for washing in this washer? It would result in having to do more loads if I have to separate the towels. That's more time, water and energy. I washed the work clothes in hot/cold, heavy duty, high spin. I normally do NOT wash work clothes on heavy duty, just longer on the normal cycle and they come clean. What I do NOT like...I do NOT Like the locking lid! WHY in the world does a top loader HAVE to lock?? I know, I can pause it and look inside but I *need* to see it in action (lol) Really, I do! I remember seeing a YouTube video about how to disable the auto-lock feature on this machine....hummmmmmmm Can you REALLY see thru the clear lid? Seems like water and steam would prevent being able to clearly see the action. I have both water taps wide open. With the first load, I never felt warm water (I checked SEVERAL times). It was mildly cool. With the heavy duty load, the hot water didn't kick in till the "wash" cycle. The soak cycle was, again, mildly cool (what our cold water is here in Texas this time of year). The washer it's self is level (checked with a level) and doesn't move AT all when manually rocked back and forth, but, during the high speed spins, it vibrates pretty bad. It's not walking but it definitely jitters around and makes me worry about the integrity of the machine after so much of that kind of vibration. Yes, the clothes were distributed evenly. lulundave, can you "add" water to a cycle if you feel it needs more or just reset it to high, med, or low levels? You said it (Cabrio with agitator) has "just a few more bells and whistles". What does it have that the HE doesn't? Also, it doesn't appear to be an Energy Star machine :( Are HEs the only Energy Star rated washing machines? Thanks for ALL the comments and help. I won't comment about the fibroids and enlargement of your uterus, but I've been an ENT nurse for 22 years and I urge you to seek a 2nd opinion prior to having surgery on your sinuses. Have you had a CT of the sinus yet? or at least a limited CT or a sinus series? There is no way (no matter what any doctor may tell you) to tell if it is your sinuses without one of these studies. The CT is the best. There are many ENT specialists who jump the gun, performing sinus surgery that isn't needed. It's fast and easy money for them, and many of them take advantage of their patient's "ignorance" of his/her sinuses. I do not mean ignorance in any sort of demeaning way, but we are all ignorant at some point about certain areas until we are educated about them. So, ask questions, get studies, and don't let someone start "reaming" out your sinuses at the drop of a hat. We have a friend who had sinus surgery with a clear sinus x-ray (he found out later) and he was left with meningitis after the surgeon knicked his brain case and he developed a cerebral spinal fluid leak. He is now deaf in his right ear and suffered from vertigo for 7 years until another ENT surgeon finally had to cut his nerve of hearing to control it (and this, I might add, doesn't always work). He suffered with this for 7 years because the 2nd surgeon waited until the statute of limitations was up for a law suit from the first surgery. They do stick together most of the time. Andierut

I was the one who didn't want kids, but here I am, w/ three little boys of my own. Dh wanted kids - has three grown that he had w/ the wrong woman; I raised my 3 Dear Nephews largely. Anyway, he wanted me more than more kids, I guess, and we wed - I was 33, he was 52. On our third anniversary, we brought home DS #1 - a second followed two years later and an unasked for blessing appeared 2 mos. after I turned 40. My point is that he may change his mind. For me, it was a change when I turned 35 and I saw the damage done to my skids by their BM, and I faced difficulties w/ my DNs as I was not the parent - paid for everything, but wasn't the parent and my hands were tied. My DNs opened up that unconditional love that kids do in a person, and as I got on in age, began to realize that I did want children in my future. Your age isn't on your side, but you've several good years left, so don't panic just yet. Anyway, if you really want a child, then there is a plan for you. This thing called motherhood is a selfless journey, but we need more women called to it rather than doing it for the wrong reasons. Do a little soul searching during this time alone. If you feel compelled to have a baby on your own, then do it. There may be a bigger, better plan for you right around the corner - someone waiting w/ your ideas, etc. Open yourself up to that. Frankly, I'd gladly go it alone rather than be w/ someone who didn't want what was so important to me. And, you are absolutely correct: you WOULD resent him in the future, no doubt. I applaud your courage for ending it rather than trapping this man or settling. For me, having the stepkids would never, ever be able to come close to having my own kids, though we didn't have a great start. My DNs, however, 100% could have fulfilled my motherly instincts. My skids were teens when we married and I came on the scene when my DNs were quite young, so maybe that's part of it. But...those newborn days are just priceless. That baby will be the only thing or person you will ever gladly lay down your life for before ever setting your eyes on him/her... All the best, Dana

But officials are unsure if van der Sloot is telling the truth based on dubious claims he has made in the past. He has made previous attempts to sell information about Holloway's disappearance and was recently nabbed in an FBI sting allegedly trying to extort money from the Holloway family.

Gee, if he knows WHERE she is, he musta put her there!! Dang!! I want him in a prison where the other prisoners can beat him to a bloody pulp. This isolation stuff is too good for him. Why protect him?

The FBI gave him money in a sting operation but he went to Peru before they arrested him. That guy wouldn't tell the truth and has proved it several times.

Why? Because they don't want him killed before he is formally charged with a crime, or before he goes to trial (and then to sentencing). It would not look good for him to be assassinated before the trial. Peru is not the only country who handles things this way. Suspects and criminals are often given protective custody or isolation from the general population until the judicial proceedings are complete.

After all the media attention dies down and the public's attention moves on to another shocking murder(er) he may quietly disappear. The guards may even claim he "escaped".

In any even, Peru will never turn him over to Arubian authorities until they are done with him and he has served his sentence for his crimes in Peru. Won't happen. They know how the corrupt Arubian government has already let this guy go and won't risk him being set free in Aruba where he could easily hide.

I wouldn't make any deals with him until I had the body and had it identified....then maybe I'd find I'd misplaced the papers the "deal" was written on....oops

The FBI didn't give him the money, Natalie's mom did in hopes he would tell her where her body is. I'm sure she's absolutely sick at what he did with it, but how could she have know.

It was reported in the news--hope it's true--that a peruvian official has claimed he WILL serve whatever time he's given, in Peru. Didn't sound as if they were willing to hand him over. Besides, the Peruvian girl's father is VERY highly placed in that country. Don't think Little Joran has enough pull in that country to get his way.

And he WILL lie and say anything to: get his way, escape punishment, get a girl, get money. He already said where Natalee's body was--buried in the foundations of a house. A house that wasn't even under construction back when she was murdered. He couldn't tell the truth if it was written on the back of his hand.

I hope he lives a long life there. One of the news reports said that he is frightened, what a shame, I bet Natalee and Stephany were frightened too. He probably has no conscience so hoping that those moments remain with him is probably moot.
