Interview #3 Today - wow

I got there and was a few minutes early so I sat in the waiting room. When the first candidate came out she was wearing a hot yellow dress and shoes with 3-4 inch heals. I was in a grey skirt and blazer with black shoes.

So the interview was going well. I asked them questions about items in the colleges strategic plan and their mouths fell open. The Dean said "no one has asked us that.....you actually read the plan?". I nodded and said "of course". Apparently none of the other candidates bothered to read up on what the college plans are.

Then one of the ladies asked me about some people I work with. Turns out she not only knows them but she used to babysit for one of my coworkers children. Small world.

Then...all of a sudden the lights went out and we were all sitting in complete darkness. Turns out a storm was blowing in and knocked out the power. We were just finishing when it happened. As they walked me out the skies were black and they made a point of telling me to be careful driving. So I headed out the door and was on my way to pick up a pizza.

got to the pizza place and it started pouring. As I opened my car door the wind took it and hit me in the leg. Got a gash was was bleeding like crazy. The owner of the place quickly got me napkins and I went into the bathroom to clean off my leg. Good thing I carry bandaids. Ruined my nylons too. So I told him I was okay and before I left with my pizzas he checked the radar for me and I was driving right into the storm to get home. Had to sit in the parking lot for 10 minutes until I felt it was safe to drive.

Got home okay....leg is okay...and the pizza was the BEST!

Now I play the waiting game and hope to hear back from the 3 places.

Will keep you posted.

7-8 years ago when I was trying to determine who I would buy from, I placed small orders with 8 diffenent sellers. 4 of those sellers I was pleased with, but by far, Moon sent me the biggest and healthiest plants. If you think he is generous with his mail order, try a visit to his garden. Tom

Thank you all for the good wishes! Avedon, I actually prayed for you guys to get this one since I know how badly you as a state need the rain. Our local weatherman (who is outstanding) has talked about another upcoming "disturbance" in Gulf, and said that if it develops like it appears to be, it should come on shore at Brownsville. I hope it does and marches right across the areas that need it so badly. He had talked about Lee for a couple of weeks before Lee developed, and was totally on about the bad tornados we had in April. I hope you escape the wildfires. Please keep us up on what is happening. It is so sickening to see the destruction in your state. Bless you. Rain for Texas! Please! kay

UPDATE Their doing geat. It WAS time to uncover them. All 3 have straightened up and are pushing out a new shoots. Their already a foot taller hence the warm weather and rains. I only had the chairs over them for 2 days and decided that xerophyte was right, the first set will burn but, won't hurt the new growth. I got the idea to use lounge chairs last summer when I purchased bare root Roses online in the heat of July. It worked like a charm as they all survived 90+ degree days bare root. Watergal, I tried just covering with a huge Burlap Bag of leaves two years ago. All I got was mush come spring time. They rotted from top all the way to the roots. Nothing survived, not even a pup. I think it would have worked had I tarped the top to keep out the excess moisture. I was pissed. Lesson learned. It was a really cold winter here in south Jersey. How did yours survive this year? Did you save any pseudostem height again?

Well, after that interview, you will be a memorable candidate. They will say "remember the lady in the nice outfit that we were interviewing when the lights went out? She seemed terrific".

Good luck. Sorry about the leg.

Already have my cards written and will be in tomorrows mail. Wrote them as soon as I got home.

Of the 3 my first choice is the job in Elgin. Two reasons....1st because the guy I am crazy about lives there and this job starts at $46,000 a year.

2nd choice will be the job in Elmhurst. very nice college and I would be doing the same job i did at Lewis.

But given my circmstances I would take any of the 3.

Being it is the Summer Soltice today I did ritual asking the Gods and Godesses for help.

Wow, they were definitely impressed with you. You probably could have grilled and interviewed them! The other candidate dressed as if she were going to a party, you were professionally dressed.

After you're hired, then you can dress like Penelope on Criminal Minds!!! :D

You'll surely get hired at one of those jobs. You're doing great!

Good for you!! You are obviously many steps ahead of the game......This was in Dear Abby this AM -

Dear Abby: I am the human resources director for a nonprofit organization. Please help me send a message to anyone searching for a job. Ninety-five percent of all the candidates I interview know little to nothing about the organization for which they are interviewing.

Please let job seekers know that most organizations are less likely to hire an applicant who has done no research on the company he/she is interviewing with. I wouldn't.

-- Shaking My Head

Dear Shaking Your Head: That's good advice. Not only should the applicant know something about the organization or company but the job seeker also should be prepared to tell the interviewer why he/she is eager for the job and how hiring him/her will enhance the business.

it does sound like had a really positive interview. I'm hoping for the best and you get the job in Elgin. Which brings another question to mind - tell us about the guy you're crazy about. It's not fair to post and tease like that.

Ok Marie.....
He has the most sexy voice....piercing eyes...he is 6 ft 2..
a mechanic...is really sweet....worries about me.....tells me he loves me.....oh and of course....is great in bed!!!! LOL....had to throw that one in considering I have read "50 Shades of Grey".
I'm just nuts about him and want to move closer so we can really further a relationship. We only get to see each other every few weeks because of work and distance.
