Later than patti's usual dinner thread.

She's getting a mani/pedi and I've been playing Mexican Train all afternoon.

Brown bagged it, and I had cantaloupe with cottage cheese and crackers.

What's on your menu for today?

For dinner today it was hamburgers, something easy after a hot working day.

I changed up my routine a little. Ate pretty early so I could get dishes done up and pay an evening visit to my sister in the Home, instead of going during the day. I had butternut squash soup and a couple of salmon patties.

Seriously, Christmas dinner here is the day after when my husband gets home. We eat at dinner time (5 or 6 pm). If you do show up (it is an invitation, after all), be prepared for a rude awakening as the dining room table is full of brug cuttings. You will have to sit in the living room & balance your plate on your lap. Doing this puts it at the perfect nose-height for a 150 lb Newfie (who drools & will steal shamelessly). We consider cat hair extra insulation for the winter & it is applied liberally to every available surface. You will be taking a free sample with you when you leave. Those of you who are "pee shy" had better "go" before you leave home & be prepared to hold it. We have 10 cats (I do fostering & will be encouraged to take one with you when you leave) & no one gets privacy (picture all those cats watching your every move). Also please be aware that homemade means there's hair in it (& possibly worse). In other words, you were warned. LOL Linda

Just got back from running around, took a couple packages to the post office, two different grocery stores, got my and Lauren's hair cut, dropped one of Lauren's friends at his house, filled up my gas tank. Didn't feel like cooking so I fried up some bratwurst for me and the kids are having leftovers Lauren made last night...marinara, noodles and some chicken breast I'm cooking up right now. They ate it with pork last night...only meat in the house at the time.

This was the night that we sisters bring in fast food to the Home where my special needs sister lives......sister's night. It was my turn to bring food for Annie. I took chili, baked potato from Wendy's. Chicken McBites from McDs. Sierra Mist special flavor for summer to drink. And stopped at a local bakery who makes the best brownies. I mostly buy large sizes of all the foods so she and I can split the food. Only problem was that they gave me SPICY chicken bites. She ate them but I told the nurse what she had, in case she complains later on. After we ate, we went to her room and cleaned out her closet and her dresser drawers, and to assess what clothes she'll be needing. Shirley

Ooooh--waffle house--I'm jealous. We don't have them here. We do enjoy stopping there when travelling. Here? Way too hot to cook. DH just left to get one of those $10 Pizza Hut boxes (bread sticks, pizza and cinnamon sticks--who else does SO many different things with pizza dough--LOL). We'll get 2 nights' dinners out of it. Can't beat the price, even if it is a little heavy on the carbs.

Thanks, Glenda. Oh, was that ever a treat. I think I enjoyed the pedicure the most. That and the chair with the roller than goes up and down your whole back! Ahhh! Now I'm all gussied up and ready to go. We split an Italian sub and had some Muncho's with it.

Glad you enjoyed your treat! I have to ask them to turn off the massage machine.

Just finished eating some cottage cheese on crackers. Love that stuff.

Hamburgers, butternut squash, salmon patties all sound great.

DD#2 stayed over with me last night, so I actually made something besides leftovers. We had chicken enchiladas with all the accompianments and a great rhubarb dessert. So I am giving that a rerun tonight.......tastes as good as last night!

didn't think my oncology appt would go so fast (fine) so thought i might have to bu dinner out..but instead fixed our last multi-topping pizza...they'e been a blessing...had a heck of a storm go thru...had to make a mad dash to close windows...
