Went to Fresh Market, yesterday, cause today was supposed to be a washout, but NOT! Cooked lunch, which was an awesomely sweet sweet potato, and Italian sausage.

Also unmolded my tomato aspic for tomorrow's potluck and it came out perfect.

I'm going to fix short-cut chicken and dumplings tonight. Boneless/skinless chicken breasts and chicken thighs in chicken stock with Bisquick dumplings on top.

I did some housework and gardening. I'm hot and too tired to cook. So I'll get pizza. The Wizard of Oz is on later tonight and I want to catch it.

I had Stouffer's creamed chipped beef on a potato. Had a fair sized side salad to go with it. Then I had gotten a pkg of mini ice cream drumsticks and had one of those. It was the perfect size for me.

Shirley, mini drumsticks, huh? I'll have to look for them. Although the regular size works, too. I love chipped beef--never had Stouffer's though. Did you like it?

Friend was telling me that she and her DH had creamed chipped beef over grits, the other night.

I enjoy mine over toast!

gadgets, I love those mini drumsticks. I have to admit that I usually eat 2 they are so good. LOL

Pam, that sounds good--don't you love summer and all the good fruits and vegetables?

We like ours on toast, too. Never would've thought about putting them on grits, Glenda. Interesting, but it doesn't really appeal to me.

Patti: I haven't made my own chipped beef for probably 20 yrs. Just so much easier to pop in microwave, and the only brand I've gotten is Stouffer's. Before I started cooking for myself again, I was the 'queen' of Stouffers frozen foods.

Glenda: I have never once eaten grits. Often wondered what they tasted like though.

Kids were over this evening. Cheryl was here all afternoon working in the garden. I fixed a big baked pasta, homemade jumbo meatballs, broccoli, coleslaw, garlic toast, sweet cherries, and nectarines. We had fresh squeezed lemonade and fresh iced tea to drink.

Made some real homemade potato salad, seared some steaks and cooked some corn on the cob. So glad it was cooler today.

During the night we had an electric storm at 1:15 and another one at 2. It was really hot and muggy last night here in SD. I don't know how much rain we got though, but it really rained hard for a while both times. I don't sleep good at night and I think it is even worse when the barometric pressure is high. Then I have a hard time breathing when I lay down. MY DH went to ND yesterday so I am by myself. Last night I made shrimp alfredo and had the rest of it tonight.
I went to church and went to Pierre to get some groceries after church.

Picked up a rotisserie chicken with the groceries, that and a salad will do.

We had meatloaf, mashed potatoes and peas...very good.

Tried a new Japanese Steakhouse last night. Very good. Best dinner out for a very long time. Usually disappointed when we try a new "must try" restaurant. Very entertaining, cooked at your table. Onion soup (not French Onion you may expect, very light and refreshing), salad with a very nice house Ginger dressing. I had New York steak and lobster. Lobster was very flavorful. Steak and lobster cooked perfectly. Fried rice and stir fried vegies were wonderful. Chef skills, sense of humor and engaging the table were priceless! Not something we can afford often, but we will definitely be back!

Now, if the powers that be, would see fit to bring an outstanding Chinese restaurant to the area, I would be ever so grateful! *Thank you in advance*
