Just got a phone call....they postponed my dr apt.

Until Wednesday...

I started getting this rash on Saturday

Wednesday will be 12 days...

I have it on my arms thick...

a little on my stomach

A lot on my upper legs

And it covers my lower legs..

I think maybe I should call to see if I could get in with a different doc. although this one is supposed to be good.

If it is all gone by Wednesday I'm not going.

I wanted to have it taken care of and find out what is causing it.

She won't be able to tell if there is nothing to see.

Have you tried Dial Soap? or Oatmeal soap? or even hydrogen peroxide?

Hi All, Usually lurker here, only recent poster. Congrats on (finally) getting the big insurance OK! Assuming you're in US (not Canada) yes, sometimes the initial decision (decline) is by a non-doctor. I had this happen yrs. ago w/ a Workers Comp injury of lower back. This was back when MRIs were very new & still much more costly than now. They were standardly refused due to cost. When my treating Chiro said I would need MRI when pregnant, Worker's Comp refused the procedure (as usual). Only when I went to Court myself (pro se, as my atty was blowing it off), on medical proof that a pregnancy w/out it would be unsafe, to me if not the fetus as well, it was OKed. As I was in the prime of my child-bearing yrs. at the time, but not pregnant (or even married) I had the Judge order it into the record that were I EVER to become pregnant, the cost of MRI(s) would be covered, specifically so I wouldn't have to jump thru same hoops again. Never had occassion to use it. Yes, unfortunately, often times in the good old USA bean-counters rule medical procedures BEFORE docotors, appalling isn't it! I agree, the chairs Abi posted are great. The scale and proportion seem much better than the ones that got away. Keep looking--something good will turn up. I got curious about the availability of this style chair since the post, so started looking around--there seem to be lots of them around. Prices are all over the place, but I'm sure with patience you'll score!

There is only one of you and your life is the result of the choices you make. PLEASE listen to the doctor. My husband has severe coronary disease with very bad circulation. He is not diabetic. However due to poor circulation, an ingrown toe nail he wouldn't see about was the start of his demise. The infection would not clear up due to poor circulation where not enough blood below the knee. After the infection, gangrene, and 5 surgeries, he only has a stump for a right leg. You are dealing with a serious problem. It will not go a way by itself. Have a pulmonologist do tests and find the problem now. How much can you enjoy your trip when you can't walk? Is it worth it? Why not get the tests, bypass surgery or medicine to help correct the problem, and then the trip? Life is too short as it is, don't give it up as my husband did. Can't go back and change the past. Bac717, I am so happy for you. It is so scary to have "questionable findings" without a pandemic to add to the chaos. I had the same exact thing happen the first week of April with the same results. On top of it, at that time it was almost impossible to get a biopsy or see a breast specialist. Because of this, I encourage everyone to stay on top of all medical visits and don't reschedule because you can do it later. Later might be impossible or at least more difficult. In two weeks I have a skin check at Memorial Slone Kettering. I was at a regular derm to take off a few little growths that I thought were benign warts and of course, one was not. I've been down this road before so my concern is minimal and I know that I am not in danger, but I will not wait till I'm fully vaccinated to see the specialist.

It is obviously spreading. I would go to the ER or to a "doc in the box" right away. Today, now. That is too much to deal with, and all the more they now have to control!!!

There are some very dangerous rashes. By all means, if it EVEN BEGINS to be in your mouth, seek immediate attention! That is life-threatening.

Take some benedryl, that might make it go away. If it's an allergy,that is!

Patti, you should try calling the doctor's office and asked to speak directly to the nurse. Explain the situation and maybe they would be able to work you in.
Or what really works around here is if your family doctor called the specialist directly. (Not the doc's nurse or receptionist but the doctor.)

Patti, I have no new ideas to try othr than what has been mentioned, but it's all good advice. I think I would be heading to the ER if it were me.

You need to get yourself to the ER now. The hospital may have a good dermatologist on staff. The doctor's inability to get you in is getting ridiculous.

I can't believe the lack of triage where ever it is you go. They should have told you to come in and sit in the office if need be until someone could at least have a look to determine if you needed immediate treatment or not.

Some dermatologist can't fit you in while he's probably treating some teenagers acne or writing a script to some middle aged woman for Retinine who's worried about her wrinkles. I'd be camped outside their door until they saw me. Go to the ER. Please.

Get thee to the ER! Tho I am surprised you got an appt. with a dermatologist this soon, even if it is postponed until Wed. Here, we are lucky if we can get in in three months! Usually when we call, we get an appt for six months from the call!
