When I first read your title, I thought it can't be who I'm thinking of.....then I read the link. Waaaayyyy too young. If I listened to anyone about politics, it was him. My sympathies to his family.

Word is that he literally dropped dead, at work. Massive heart attack.
He had just returned to work after a post-graduation family trip to Italy to celebrate his son's graduation from Boston College.

He was from my hometown, Buffalo NY, and I really liked him a lot. Down to earth, smart, savvy guy. I'll miss him especially on Sunsay morning "Meet the Press". God bless him, he was a good man.

so so sad. i absolutely loved him and had a deep respect for him. i really feel sad for his family especially his dad(big russ), whom he wrote a book about. this weekend is fathers day :-( i still can't believe it ~ liz

Oh my gosh! He is one of the few news people that I really like. I can't believe it...

I heard it earlier this afternoon - what a shock! He will really be missed in the political arena! My sympathy to the family - it will be a difficult Father's Day for his family.

I read that his wife and son were still in Italy when it happened. What a terrible shock for them. And his poor father . . .

I saw the TV news when I got home from work and was shocked to learn this. I always watch him -- can't get used to the idea that he is gone.

According to the NYT, "an autopsy had found that Mr. Russert had an enlarged heart and significant coronary artery disease". It doesn't say if he knew this or if it was only found after the autopsy. How sad.

My 43 yo BIL has an enlarged heart, as did his father (it killed him eventually). In my BIL's case it was caused by years and years of untreated high blood pressure (when he was in his 20s and early 30s, before he had regular physicals).

How could they have autopsy results posted already? That's sounds unusual.

Dateline sure had a nice tribute to him tonight. What a good guy he was.

Very likable, and always seemed like he was ready to smile about something. I know he was very devoted to his church, his family, and to his work. He's one of the few media personality I will miss, mainly because he never seemed to take himself too seriously.

I still can't believe he's gone, just like that.

I wonder if sitting for too many hours on his plane flight back from Italy could have precipitated this. My friend took a flight from Los Angeles to New York, got off the plane, checked into his hotel room then died. Dr.s said a blood clot that had formed during the flight had traveled to his heart afterward.

I heard that Tim Russert had recently attended his son's graduation, and that he had an audience with the Pope while he was in Italy.

Sure will miss him.

So very saddened by his death. He was so smart, sensitive and entertaining. Meet the Press and election coverage will never be the same!!!
