When I sold my limited edition, signed copy of Atlas Shrugged for over $1,400, I looked at the other purchases made by the buyer that week. My book was the cheapie! His other purchases, all books, were a lot more. The buyer had a Beverly Hills address, and I wondered who he was. Someone with a lot of money, for sure.

I read On the Road way back then. My copy wasn't signed, though. No idea where it ended up.

When my Brother passed away, I donated all his books. A couple of weeks later one of his friends called me about a autographed book he had loaned my Brother. Oops!

I would love to have collector's edition books. I never thought about whether I *would* pay that much, because I *can't" so it just doesn't matter. ;o)

I would drool over a signed, 1st edition of "To Kill a Mockingbird."

I guess it's just me....even if I had the money, signed anything doesn't matter to me...unless I can make this kind of money with it! But to spend that kind of money just to have it is not worth it to me. It means nothing to me if something is autographed. That $$ could go to so many more useful things IMO. I really love books...but I won't pay much for them!

Many times you can find good books and even autographed ones at garage sales, thrift shops, auctions, and even good used book stores.

It's amazing how much some books are worth. My BIL is a collector and he has given me two books that are mysteries about a man who searches thrift stores, book stores, etc for old valuable books and then sells them to dealers. It's all so interesting

My Mother has been dealing in rare and antiquarian books for almost 30 years now. She's had a number that have been quite valuable.

Is it weird that this seller has two of the same signed book for sale or is it just me finding something strange where nothing exists?
