The Kitchen Table

We need your votes, please

I'm usually found on the Decorating Forum, but I do lurk in the shadows over here and post every now and then. I hope this request doesn't offend any of the members.

We sure could use your votes to get my grandson's (Josiah) picture to the top of the list this week. You just have to type in the "quoted" words before you can vote. A pain in the neck, I know. But would you please take the time to do it?

If you're willing to forward the link to friends and family for their votes that would be an added plus. Thanks.

Each weekly finalist will receive $250, plus have a chance to be one of the 10 finalists chosen to travel to New York City for the Parents Cover Contest photo shoot.

Come back daily! Voting ends 06/05/2011.

Get your friends and family to vote too! Just forward this to them or share the link.

Mechelle, Your vote DID count. What I've found is that they don't update the vote count immediately; if you click on your browser to 'refresh' then you'll see that your vote is recorded. Thanks, everyone! Here's a different link that makes it easier, hopefully. Please vote for Sherry Skipper Spurgeon's class! Thanks.

I'd vote for the basketweave (and not just because I used the floral on the wall in my kitchen). Mosaics generally aren't slippery - the grout lines make them grippier than a lot of large(r) format tiles. I have these crappy white 6x6's in every bathroom in this house (ugh) and you could like to kill yourself on those with wet feet. The issue with the floral is that onyx can be fragile. I got a pretty decent lot, but I also hand inspected every single sheet, removed the "uglies" and used two sheets to replace the rejected pieces. The marble also has some very distinct gray (which does not appear in your limestone) but does appear in my Corian, so I'm not bothered by it. And yes, I did use bright white grout and no, I would never use traditional white sanded grout on a bathroom floor. At a tile shop you'd likely have more choices in the white/cream family. I just think that overall the basketweave is a stronger choice for your space. If you got a very grey lot of the floral you'd be even more behind on tile - and stuck with it to boot. Lisa

RH is over priced for what you get. Although I do have two of the RH Optic pendants I don't think I will buy anything at another so called "lifestyle" merchant. Just something is bugging me about RH and Pottery Barn and exactly what they are trying to sell/market. If I had to do it over again I would have gotten restored vintage fixtures but the BW would not let me spend that kind of money this go round. I like either of the two other options with the Kichler coming out on top. Keep in mind that you are getting no real ambient lighting with any of these.

LOL! I just came back to tell you Josiah was replaced by a little girl in a stroller. I found him at 73--is this good or bad? How can we tell how he's doing?

I voted for the little girl before I read all the responses. But it did let me go back and vote for Josiah. He's adorable!

patti,he was at #54 this morning and has slipped to #73. I'm not giving up hope yet. maybe others will tire of voting for the other kids and Josiah's "friends" will get a second wind and move him to the top with their votes.

Thanks again for voting for him.
