Oh, I definately prefer Turkey Hill over Blue Bunny. Have you tried the Duets (Vanilla ice cream mixed with a fruit sorbert)? It's delish!

I sometimes buy Blue Bunny and have never heard of Turkey Hill. My ice cream of choice is Blue Bell that is made here in Texas.

Like MaryAnn, my favorite is Blue Bell. I don't think I've ever had Blue Bunny, and I've never seen Turkey Hill in this area. I prefer Blue Bell to any other premium brand I've ever tasted. That said, I seldom treat myself to ice cream these days, but it sure sounds good on this hot day!

The only place we can buy Blue Bunny around here is Walmart. We try to avoid Walmart, but would go there real early in the morning (to avoid the crowds) just for Blue Bunny once in awhile. Our other big grocery store in town began to carry Turkey Hill about a year ago. I think it is better than Blue Bunny, so now we don't have to get up at 6am just to go for BB ice cream. If you get a chance to buy Turkey Hill's limited edition flavor "Southern Lemon Pie", do not pass it up!

Lydia, I LOVE the DUETs. Few ice creams match up with turkey hill, IMO.

Haven't seen Blue Bell--guess it's a local/regional brand. Our Turkey Hill is a regional thing. It's mostly available in the North East, I believe.

I've never seen the other two brands mentioned, but when I lived in Wisconsin I thought the Blue Bunny sugar free ice cream was the best.

We get Blue Bell, but not Blue Bunny here. I've looked for BB because I heard it was so good. We just bought an ice cream maker so we're making our own now. We got one that doesn't use salt and ice cubes. Comes out soft, but hardens in the freezer. It's yummy!

Around here the two big names are Blue Bunny and Kemps. Of course there's some store names and the like. There's a very select few places around here where you can get Brown's Ice Cream which is very good, but not many places.

I like Blue Bunny. The add-ins are generous. When you get the "cookies -n- cream" it has BIG chunks in it, not just crumbs. You'll find 1/4 - 1/2 a cookie in there.

I haven't had my favorite ice cream in years. it's called Perry's. I believe it's made in NY. I used to get it in my hometown, Buffalo NY.

I have had Blue Bunny but I don't find it worth writing home about. I was just OK. I wish my area carried Kemps. When we vacation in Minnesota we like to buy Kemps ice cream.

My DH won't touch Blue Bunny. He says it's "not fit to eat." We buy Blue Bell here. It costs more, but I feed a lot of grandchildren and I am the "malt queen", so just the best for us!!! I don't know where they sell Blue Bell, but it's just great. I have some hips to prove it.

Interesting responses. Where did Blue Bunny get their reputation? Guess it was self-proclaimed?

I agree with you about Turkey Hill, it's the favorite here too. I used to Like Breyer's but I don't think it's as rich and creamy as it used to be.

According to Blue Bell's website, it is sold in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.

McMann--DH bought this container at ShopRite (probably the Brace Road Store), I've seen it at SuperFresh, too. Think it's around. Don't know if I've seen it at Wegman's (my favorite store)

But if you're another Turkey Hill fan, I doubt you'll be that impressed. The box I've got is peanut butter cup. Someone above suggested that BB has big pieces of their add ins--not in this box, the peanut butter cups are tiny slivers that look like they were prepared in a food processor left on a little too long.

Have you tried the TH Graham Slam? Haven't managed to find it when I'm buying ice cream--looks interesting.

Ice Cream is one of those things that doesn't ship well long distance for some strange reason! VBG!!! Having lived all over the country I can say in each area there has been a "local favorite brand" that wins out hands down over the others, even the big name brands like Bryers that seem to be produced in several different plants around the country.
Here in Texas, I like a lot of the HEB store brand flavors such as Banana Nut, and the Lemon one in the summer. Sometimes eat the Blue Bell, DH prefers Sherbet, and now that we have found a source for Strawberry Sherbet he is in 7th heaven when I can get some and bring it home.(it is popular and sells out about as soon as the store gets it in!)

I agree, the Blue Bunny is good, but ah, just ok. Not that special. We have Edy's in the freezer right now. Mint Girl Scout Cookie. Haven't seen a Wegmans since we moved south. DS loved those bins of candy. I used to work at the local Superfresh. None of those here either. We still go to Shoprite and Wegmans on our trips home for things that you can't find down here. Like Tallaricos Chip Steak sauce.

My problem is that I compare all ice cream to the ice cream we bought at Penn State's creamery. If ice cream doesn't travel well that might explain why this was so good - it was made right on campus, even the cows are a Penn State herd. Their ice cream was the richest, smoothest I've ever had.

Oh, I've heard about that Penn State Ice cream. It's supposed to be some of the best ever. Sort of an ice cream chem lab for making the very best, isn't it?

I guarantee, if you're a turkey hill fan, you'll probably be disappointed with BB. But, if you're like me, you probably like to try things and fine out for yourself. And hey, even mediocre ice cream is worth having in on a day like today, right? Let me know what you think.

this.

I have never had Blue Bunny - isn't sold here. I do,
however, live only a couple of miles from the Penn
State Creamery (new building last year, in case you
haven't been here lately). And, yes, it is delicious
ice cream.

But....LOL as I was brought up in Michigan, I remember
Sullivan's and Hudsonville as being the very best
ice cream in the entire world!!! LOL

I guess it just depends on memories. Thanks for
