Velleen has passed

Just to let all of you know that Velleen passed away in her sleep last night. She will be cremated and the family will have a memorial to her life. There are no details right now but will try and update you all. I want to thank you from the family for all the kind words and friendship you all extended to her. She was always excited when she talked about the friends she had on KT. She will be so missed by all of us. Lilla was such a generous and social person. She also endured a lot of pain during the last few years of her life but she didn't complain. We will all truly miss her.

I didn't at first recognize the name but I looked it up and saw who you were referring to. He must have started using his middle name when the Jackson musical family member became known to the public. He had an unmistakable appearance, always seeming to be pursing his lips tightly as if smirking. I've never found talk radio appealing but I do remember his early years in SoCal. He seemed to be an honest broker who, if I recall correctly at least at the beginning, didn't let his personal views be too prominent. He acted as a reporter/interviewer serving as host for guests and callers to allow them airtime to speak. And perhaps because of his English accent, seemingly doing so generously and with dignity and class. Maybe some of that changed in later years, I don't know. I left LA as a young adult and while I've continued to visit SoCal regularly and very frequently ever since, I've paid no ongoing attention to the active radio scene there. He seems to have led a long life. I hope it was a happy one for him. He was a trailblazer.

Pele was a terrific player and recognized as such globally. I suspect he became known to US sports fans because of the few seasons he spent at the end of his career with the NY Cosmos of the now defunct first major American pro soccer league, the NASL. Many countries have their own styles of play and Pele's style was that characteristic of Brazilians - agile and with extremely competent ball skills done with flair. He was a showman without being a show-off. I've heard a few Brazilians say jokingly that they are able to play soccer with fancy footwork because all Brazilians learn how to dance the Samba at a young age.

I just read her wikipedia biography. Wow, she had a rough life as a child, and a lot of tough breaks as an adult. John RItter was being paid five times as much as she was on Three's Company.

Pink Aloha is probably the only pink that "pales" that I still liked regardless. It's because of the form of the bloom with that marvelous edge. Alas, it was never hardy for me in my pot system.........Mrs. Peepers was the name of one of my beloved cats. I know you aren't a cat person, but regardless it's a pretty daylily and she was an exceptional cat......Clash of Absolutes is the 3rd one that catches my eye. Such a deep purple.
