The Kitchen Table

Well its 1:30 and I have done..............

Nothing today..........well went to town 2 times....once to get dog food and once to the bank to have my friend call DH to find out where my phone is (still no phone) my house is trashed...I had no shorts clean so am wearing Sydneys clothes and got a book from walmart with a number to call on my table but can't call and really don't want to do house work want to fill up the new garden section with dirt that Brian and I made yesterday.....but the heat index is supposed to be 107 here today...so probably should wait til this evening...and don't want to clean house or do laudnry...so I keep reading the KT LOL...need to call the doctor in MO but can't do that without my phone.....so think I will put my bathing suit on and go sit in my wading pool with a book.....LOL what have you done so far today.........STacy

Well, you have to have a day off every now and then, and if it's that hot, you shouldn't really be doing anything anyway.

I've just been at work. I have gardening to do after work, and then I have to make cookies after that. I started bringing in cookies a couple of months ago-every Tuesday- and now these coworkers won't let me forget it..LOL!

Not much more than you!! Made my bed,washed up breakfast dishes and am waiting for the sun to move so i can go pull some weeds in the front yard.So in the meantime i'm here playing on the computor,could be doing other things,just don't feel like it!!

twobit, don't worry, you did nothing wrong. You have to remember, that poor plant had been taken from a very controlled greenhouse, shipped in a dark truck, stuck in a too dark too dry store, and then to your house. The poor thing is just in shock. It's had a radical change in its environment, and dropping the flowers is a survival mechanism. Remember also, plants flower for two reasons; either they're happy, or they're stressed and trying to reproduce before they die. It's generally pretty easy to tell the difference. So, check out the FAQ on the main forum page, because you *will* want to transplant it out of that peat. Give it a couple of months after that and it'll probably start blooming for you. Also, check the link below; Rachel has lots of useful cultural info, with pictures! Good luck and keep asking questions. I feel the same way, Jeff. It's been a lackluster summer overall with the roses although I'm quite pleased with some of the teas but lots of things didn't do well in the heat. I'm starting to take things out or move them around (I direct and my husband does the work) and I have new roses coming in a week or so, and I'm feeling that same surge of hope and desire to make the garden more beautiful. off topic... I have to say that the dead cat product videos have NOTHING on the "Ken and Barbie as Greek heroes in mythology" videos I received as projects when I taught English in my past life. This generation is really dragging our culture downhill. You haven't seen art until you have seen a bathtub full of toy boats--one in flames--representing the attack on Troy. Donna, Even if you'd been able to ask where the toilet might have been found ... ... I can just see you listening to the answer ... ... half a dozen times? However ... many Japanese, especially the ones around airports, speak reasonable English. (Quite a higher percentage than folks around Canadian or U.S. airports speak reasonable Japanese.) ole joyful

Well I got the kitchen all cleaned up......mopped the floor (again after Charlie laid on it after swimming in the pond so it got horrible again)......and guess I will go out to the pool.....might start getting dirt first then at least I can justify doing the pool right?? LOL the bedroom is clean the rest of the house just needs picked up but think I will wait and just do it all tomorrow.........too hot to run the dryer with only one air unit working (but thta is a happy note....we hope it will at least get us thru the summer and the other unit still waiting on a part).....stacy

Emptied the dishwasher added dishes, did dishes by hand. Moving stuff around in my bed room making room for a chest of drawers from my sewing room. Of course had to move things out of the sewing room to get to the chest of drawers. Got the chest of drawers as far as the doorway and can't get it moved across the hall and into my bedroom! So have called Mike and he will be over soon to get it moved in place. Then I have this mess in my room and the sewing room to do something with! I think it is leftovers for supper tonight!

Oh my gosh Matti you are sooooooooooo right....that is why I went out and tried to fix my farmers tan.....LOL....came in just now....took some ibuphen for my back and reading here and eating triscuits.....had a late lunch (3) so will make tacos for DH and his hand (worker) and then back to bed....wish I could find my heating pad more then that wish I could have found my phone to call the doc...is okay can live and will call tomorrow......laundry and house will still need done no fairies come here at night...stacy

Didn't accomplish much today. Made instant from-a-box cheesecake and some raspberry sauce to go with it..went to WM for some necessities..unloaded the DW so tonight's mess could go in it..pulled weeds for about an hour until DH insisted I come out of the sun. It wasn't that hot, only about 80, and I was fine. Oh well, it was an excuse to quit.

Does anyone know how to KILL, not contain, Bermuda/johnson/joint grass? The stuff is driving me nuts..and DH thinks the answer is to till it under! Wrong! But then, he's from Nebraska and has little to no experience with it. Especially in flower beds, because he only worked on FARMS.

Oh I wish I knew how to kill berumda I hate it sooo much it is sooo evasive...that is what we have...and it bites....I love zoysia but it is sooo expensive to either sod with it or the seed....but wow talk about a non evasive grass and soooo thick and coosie under your feet....Okay well I am done for the night been a baby again so trying to justacy go to sleep til tomorrow...St
