just so I don't have to keep retyping all the news...here's a copy and paste from my Journal at CaringBridge.

Here in Texas when we are excitedÃ¢ÂÂ¦we yell....Yahoo! Well I donÃ¢ÂÂt know if I ever have done that but thatÃ¢ÂÂs what I see and hear that Texans do so here ya go.

How many times I need to say it to make you all understand that itÃ¢ÂÂs a wonderful day here at Rancho G. We have just returned from visiting with the Oncologist and getting the reports from all the tests I had last week. And the only thing I can say is Ã¢ÂÂ¦I am thrilled to report to you Ã¢ÂÂ¦The scans were all the same. Again I wonÃ¢ÂÂt bore you with the Doctor language but trust me when I tell you that what they said was Ã¢ÂÂ¦No sign of cancer. I donÃ¢ÂÂt even have to go back for four months. So I have the summer off without worrying about DoctorÃ¢ÂÂs appointments or blood tests etc.

My Beloved has been there with me through thick and thin and has held my hand when I felt weak and teary and made me eat when I didnÃ¢ÂÂt want too. I canÃ¢ÂÂt even imagine how I could have managed without his help and I am so appreciative and thankful to have him in my corner. I want to tell you, too, that I so appreciate the support that you all have given me. I so love all the posts here at CaringBridge and the emails and cards and phone calls that I have received. You have helped me stay positive and have helped me to keep my chin up. I know that I am not home free but for now I am and thatÃ¢ÂÂs all that countsÃ¢ÂÂ¦One day, one week, or one month at a time. Thank you Ã¢ÂÂ¦Thank you Ã¢ÂÂ¦Thank youÃ¢ÂÂ¦ all for the prayers and good wishes. Keep them coming and not just for me but all those fighting this stinking battle with cancerÃ¢ÂÂ¦

Another thing I like about the sweet peas is the leaves don't get black spot. The trellis stays lush and green even when the roses are completely defoliated. Given how my roses are already budding out while the sweet peas are still seedlings I doubt in my zone that the two will bloom at the same time. Of course, I could be wrong so we will just have to wait and see. Frankly if they do bloom simultaneously it won't be a great tragedy. The yellow roses would contrast beautifully with the violet-blue sweet peas. Should only be about 2-3 weeks before we find out. My experience is limited to just one year but in no way can I honestly describe this vine as invasive. Morning Glories - they are invasive. So is mint and English Ivy, but not the sweet peas. My Captain of the Blues didn't reseed from last year. Even if it does, removal of the vines is so easy that my 68 year old mother could do it without any effort. Patrick

1. I also have a slug problem-you should see what those things can do to alpine strawberries! I'd use beer traps, but it seems such a waste. 2. I'm not convinced on the delphs, but I'm not opposed either-guess my usual ambivalence comes to the fore. I guess I'll try on a test basis, at some point. I've got a lot of lawn to dig up & leaf mulch to incorporate in the meantime. Those things are poisonous? Not that I plan on eating any, still it might somehow mix in with the dandelions that look to be peoples food of the future. 3. I'm still intrigued by the bats, and the moonflowers, and the 4 o'clocks, etc.. Not sure how my rosa moschata temple musk will do in that regard, so accompaniment seems warranted.

Thanks Krista, Karl, HoovB, Petaloid, John and Jim for all your thoughts and input...Karl yes, I am hoping that Gemini will deepen in its colors at least with the leaves, but ugh, Gemini has about as much wisdom and common sense as I have. Instead of storing up chlorophyll in its leaves and tender stems, being patient, strengthening and taking its time to develop and mature, Gemini is trying to send up another flush immediately. 10 p.m. on New Year's Eve: A baby blossom bud emerged 3/4" above its sheath of leaves (fully extended "neck"). I predicted 4 other buds as well, because I started seeing the tell-tale signs of the 2 5-leaflet tender enclosed "prongs". As soon as I see a split 2 5-leaflet stem fork outwards, usually a baby bud is nested within the "sheath". New Year's Day Another 4 flower buds emerged. I give Gemini its 2nd Gardenville feeding (got delayed by a few days). January 2nd I have another one flower bud nested and emerging, and 6 very suspicious pronged stems to deal with. Total count will be 12 flower buds so far (6 definite). Sadly my house is way too large and drafty for me to do any humidity control via Karl's suggestion so all I can do is cross my fingers and shake my head at this craziness. I am expecting blackspot to strike any moment because it is a pattern of Gemini to get sick whenever it goes through a spurt of blooms. I dare not decrease the h. oil/Greencure at this point like I originally intended. Predicted survival of buds into mature blooms is only 20% at this time. Leaves and stems are way too soft and pale to support blooms!!! Why Gemini is trying to send up another flush is beyond me! Gemini is as kooky and insane as me (sigh-I think it is a "mind-reader" LOL). Jim, still no problems with spider mites... John, I have a fragrance-sport Gemini that consistently had a wonderful scent while growing outside and that is the one HUGE thing that I miss terribly. But my sport Gemini is also a BS magnet-Sport as well. Gemini is supposed to be known for its health and beauty, but mine flunks the BS test whenever it goes through a flush...It gets extremely sick and ugly, but it is also a fighter rose as well and a few weeks after the flush it will make another comeback. Tomorrow I will post a sample photo of the baby flower buds. P.S. Eluane gives everyone a puppy kiss. She is glad HoovB and Petaloid are mentioning her instead of stupid Mama fussing over some messy rose, LOL!

YIP YIP YIPPY YAHOOOOOOOOO! I'm glad for you!! While I await the results of my tests it is good to hear others are getting back great news. Each hr of the waits seems like days and since the first tests were done 3 months ago and these are the follow-ups on the dubious tests before, It has seemed like an eternity. To your continued health and well being!

You are truly blessed to have your Beloved in your life...hey, I didn't need to tell you this, but still, what a treasure, right?

Wow Ruthie, I'm so very happy for you. Ya made me cry. I've been so worried about you since I started coming back here and heard about your cancer. This is a biggie for sure. I remember when Christy had her first long term checkup date. Wonderful news. It will be 5 years in October for Christy and I am so hoping you'll be able to say that 5 years from now. Always thinking good thoughts for you.

I've been wondering how things are going for you! Been thinking about you often. I saw you posting more lately and that was a positive sign. So glad to hear the good news. This past week has had so much bad news. Needed to hear some good stuff.

We don't say "yahoo" too much except for certain internet terms but how about a yumpin' yimminy! Dat's great nooz!
