I think it would be a great day! People will be wanting to wind down after the holiday and what's more fun then hitting a few yardsales?? I'd love it anyway....that's one thing I DO like about El Paso...yardsales year long! Yeah!

Here it would not be good as most go camping or to the lakes. Here they do Fri/Sat, but not Sunday. This town empties out of most weekends.

I don't think it would be good where I live in Iowa. Too many people go camping,on picnics,boating,etc.Ot they just want to stay home and relax. I really hope you have a good turnout and post to let us know how it went. I never,say never, so am always open to new ideas.

No because a lot of people celebrate the 4th as a 3 day holiday with family/friends. I would wait until the next week.

On the one hand, the best yard sale our neighborhood ever had, was the day before Easter one year.

However, I'm not sure that the day AFTER a holiday would be as good. People stay up late on the 4th, many party pretty hard (so may not be into getting up too early the next morning, if you catch my drift.) and being the day after the holiday, there's always the chance that folks have spend any extra $$$ they may have had in their pockets, already.

But it's so hard to tell with yard sales--just when I think I've got them figured out, I have one that breaks all the rules. If that's the only day you can have it--go for it. If your town allows, maybe you could give the 5th a shot, and if it doesn't work out, repeat the next weekend? (or switch houses? your mom's one week, yours the next?)

Whatever you decide--good luck. We did quite well with ours a couple of weeks back.

Here I'd have to say no.
With company and kids there is no way I'd be able to hit sales the next day.
You know you will spend the 4th setting it up right? I wouldn't want to spend my day off setting up for a sale, there are too many other things going on that day.

But that is here and I am going by 4 or 5 that set up for a big rummage sale over Labor Day weekend....they hardly sold anything!

Not good in our neck of woods either. Very few have them on holiday weekends.

Usually I would say no but, because folks seem to be sticking close to home, I would say go for it.

I know I will be out and about looking for yardsales.

Even when I am away from home visiting family or on vacation, I get up and hit the local yardsales. It is a fun way to learn your way around new locations.

I say go for it. We are having one July 4th-friday. We figure everyone will be off work and out and about that morning, most festivities aren't until the evening so we are going to give it a try.
