I know someone who had all that done and she looks fantastic! She looks 20 years younger and is so happy. I'm happy for her.

I would love to have a firmer neck,get rid of the wrinkles and get my eyes done but I am too CHICKEN! LOL I hope your friend does well and has no complications.I think I would want it all done at the same time mainly to avoid having to be put under more than once.

I shudder just to think about having so much done at once. I can't imagine the pain. And the long, long recovery time. Is this her first time using this surgeon? What if he is not as good as he claims to be? If it were me, I would start out with just one procedure and then consider having more done at a later date.

If you are concerned about her, why don't you have a talk with her. I hope she got a second opinion before jumping into this. (Or even a third and fourth.)

I would want to do it all at once also. Having multiple surgeries and being "put under" numerous times is more risky then just one time. More power to her if that is what is going to make her happy and feel good. I my have it done also when I get older. NancyLouise

If I could afford to have this done, I would go for it in a heartbeat...no second guessing. Even when I was thin, I've always had a little "turkey neck" that I would love to be rid of. Also, the older I get, the droopier my eyelids seem to be getting. I had a friend that had her eyelids done and it was remarkable how much younger she looked. Of course, I'll never be able to afford any of this, so I can only dream!!!

Four hours under anesthesia is not too long. Make sure she is having it done in a surgicenter that has a crash cart. Cardiac arrest is the issue with any surgery.
There is nothing wrong with wanting to look her best.

It is costing her over $20,000 to have all this done. The thing is she doesn't really look that bad, her skin is quite smooth for her age. She has never sat in the sun so has no sun damage.

She can want to look 40 all she wants LOL, but the truth of the matter is that she is 60 and nothing she does will change that. I'm a firm believer in embracing your age, whether it's the clothes you wear, the make-up you use or the hairstyle you have. So may times I've seen "older" woman wear age-inappropriate clothes/makeup, etc. and it makes them look older, not younger as they'd hoped. I'm not saying that you have to look like an old fuddy-duddy, but stop trying to fight aging. It happens and if you embrace it, that will make you feel and look younger.

I'd have it done too. Everyone talks about what a terrible mess Joan Rivers has made of her face but the truth is, I think for her age, she looks way better than if she had her natural skin with all the bags and sags...I know...cause I have them.

You can also get medical loans for plastic surgery.

Someone told me if you are 65 or older that medicare will pay for the droopy eyes if it is interfering with your sight.He was about to have it done and his lids didn't look all that bad to me.

I don't know if it's Medicare that pays, but I know 2 people over 65 that got it covered by insurance. Both had it suggested by their doctors, they didn't go seeking it. It was discovered that their vision was obstructed from droopy upper lids.

Doing it all at once just makes more sense all the way around. People do it all the time and it is no more dangerous than doing it bit by bit. Her recovery time will not be any longer either. This way she only has to recover one time instead of 5 different times.

Yes Medicare will pay for an eye lid lift. If your eye doctor/specialist deems it necessary for better vision. I know someone who just had this done..and she didn't realize just how droopy she was until the first eye was done!!

However it didn't make her look any younger.

You have to do the whole face at once if you want to look younger. If you do just the eyes and still have jowls and a double chin you won't look any better. That's why this woman is having it done all at once.

I think it is wonderful if you can afford it and if you get a really top notch surgical team. But I would be asking for lots of references and also checking with other surgeons too. I agree with getting several opinions and estimates done.
I had a good friend that had some cosmetic surgery done, and she and her husband are both very happy with the results. She was pretty before, but she looks really beautiful now.

I did it in March and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I did face lift, brow lift, lower eyes, chin implant/neck lift, and chemical peel. There is next to no pain and even with the peel, I was back out and about and meeting new people in 2 weeks. I am going back to have the upper eyelids done in September. If you are going to do it, try to get everything you want done at the same time. It is senseless to go through recovery more than once if you don't have to and I agree with the poster above that it is more dangerous to be repeatedly put under anesthesia.

Pauline, did the chemical peel make your skin look better? I'm considering it, have a lot of "age" spots (sun damage) that bother me a lot more than wrinkles do.

If I lost all the excess weight I have I'd like to get the excess skin taken off my lower abdomen and get a breast lift. Not sure if I'd ever consider a face lift because I'd be afraid of the pulled-too-tight look. Hope your friend's surgery turns out good for her.

The other day I had a patient describe me to one of my co-workers and he said she was "short and had a little age on her". I was expecting "short and fat"...especially coming from someone who was quite a bit older than ME!

I had my eyes done...Medicare paid for the upper lids and we paid for the lower ones...it made me happier :o) I would do a whole makeover, but don't want to shell out the big bucks to do it....I would go for a tummy tuck. We could afford some of that and like I said...I did do my eyes, but I've had so much surgery, that I hate to have it done when I don't have to....and I may "have" to have more surgery in the future....I'll just be satisfied with the eyes. I will never wear "old lady" clothes....

Makes me a little unhappy to think people are getting cosmetic surgery paid for by Medicare. That's what it sounds like. The upper eyelid lifts "to improve vision" sounds a lot like the nose job done "for deviated septum". Heck, virtually everybody has a deviated septum! "Droopy eyelids" isn't the same thing as "myasthenia gravis".

I had a lot of deep vertical lines around my lips (both top and bottom). I thought they were caused by having been a smoker, but the doctor said they were actually sun damage. Getting rid of them was the reason I went for the chemical peel. What I had is actually called a croton oil peel. It worked absolute wonders around the top lip, but less so on the bottom. When I have my upper lids done in September, the doctor will redo the peel around the bottom lip. He felt it was best to go lightly so as to avoid scaring, but it wasn't quite enough. Don't get me wrong though, there was a lot of improvement--just not as much as with the top lip. So, while I'm under anyway, he'll fix that.
