Does anybody use straight talk?

Funny story. DH switched our Verizon phones from me to him as the owner of the account because he could get a 20% "discount" through work. So our bill (for 2 smartphones and 1 regular phone for DS) went from 225.00/month to 234.00 month! Nice discount, huh? Seems there are more surcharges with the new owner. So we are thoroughly disgusted with Verizon and will switch ASAP, which isn't until December. At least he has to stay until December, I will switch now. Just wondering, if you have straight talk, do you like it and would you recommend it?

switch wll take 2 years....even though your contract expires in dec.... you made changes to your contract and therefore will have to pay an early termination fee I believe....call and find out when your contract expires... see if it is as you think dec 2013

My sister and her husband, two sons and daughter in law use straight talk. Plus they run their business phones on straight talk also. She has said that they never have any problems at all with it.

We've not enjoyed the show on tv so much in ages, made me think once again how great it'd be to have more entertaining and little less competition, to bring best of Idols and have some extra fun for everyone. No matter, all are winners, except me and especially my daughter, will be listening to Katherine and my younger daughter to Chris (her forever Idol). I think Taylor got the votes for being a friendly country guy -if the show was about congeniality he'd get my votes, he had fun and made us join in the fun, appearing more self-confident- a few years older helps, even if he was at times comical with his dances-we can all use more fun. It reminded us of the times when the "She Bangs" guy was picked as the winner on line, lol. We're fine with the fact Katherine took the 2nd place- it's almost or as grand as the top. Her voice will sing for itself. Wish we didn't have to wait so long for more Idol, GB

I always bring my spikes in over the winter. I have a sun porch that I heat to stay above 40°. I love that the spike plants get huge! By the 3rd year, they're too big for a window box, but they're an awesome large accent plant in a BIG planter, garden or landscape. Easy to keep in the house too with a little sunlight. Inside, I water with rain water/melted snow to keep tips from yellowing from the city water.

I agree with brightonborn. I'm with Verizon and every change we've ever made has automatically extended that line for 2 years. So if both of your lines changed...unfortunately, you'll have to pay if you terminate yours. Unless, perhaps, yours is different. Hopefully! In any case, I'd call and talk to a rep and ASK what's with the rate INCREASE since you switched for a DISCOUNT. Seems to me someone should have/could have told you.

I agree redcrls....and my daughter works for Verizon did me no good to gripe...ended up paying the early termination fee. Ticked me off big time. they should tell you beforehand ch anges to account automatically extends contract.

It says on the verizon site that the contract end is 12/14/13.

Anyone else have any straight talk suggestions?

I've had it for awhile. Its about the only thing that works in our area so I am stuck with it. I did have boost but I think they were going out of business or something.

I don't know what straight talk is but maybe you have the wrong verizon plan.

Unless you use a lot of data, a share everything plan (unlimited talk and text) with 2 smartphones and a plain phone would be $40+40+30= 110 plus a data plan plus tax. 4GB shared data plan is $70 per month. I pay

Check PuretalkUsa. I have had it for a couple of years. Don't know about data plans but basic is 200 minutes for $10/mo with no tax, no contract, and roll over minutes. Unlimited minutes is $45 (I think). Their website has all the info.

I used Straight Talk for my cell phone and it was fine.

I switched to Red Pocket to save $5 a month. Red Pocket works fine but I have billing problems with them, causing them to shut off my phone service EVERY SINGLE MONTH even though I auto-pay them, so I am switching back to Straight Talk at the end of this billing cycle.

Straight talk user here...never have any problems...two of my sons have it too...45 dollars monthly unlimited talk....

I have AT&T's gophone plan. 55 dollars a month. Unlimited talk and text.

I also only use my phone for talk... very little text, but it was the cheapest with the best coverage I found.

Meanwhile, in north east Texas, and south east Oklahoma the coverage sucked. No signal for 3 days.

One of the guys has a tracphone, and says he has better coverage than his wife with verizon.

Puretalk is intriguing also. The coverage map SAYS excellent coverage for where I live. Problem is, I use my phone for when I am on call at the hospital and I have to have it working wherever I go. That is why I have stuck with the outrageousness of Verizon, but I am completely fed up. I do need a data plan as I have become one with my iphone, lol.

Moni, loved your journal of your trip. Hope you are feeling better. I would love to do something like that! Looks like you have a good group of like-minded cycling buddies.

I have a smartphone on Straight Talk. ST uses TMobile, Sprint, Verizon and maybe still some AT&T towers.
I made sure mine is on Verizon towers, because that is the only thing that works when we are in FL.
I love it. The customer service does suck, usually. It is owned by TracFone, usually I call TracFone when I have a problem or use ST's Facebook page.
You are limited to 2 GB of data a month, but most smart phones have wi-fi on them, so I seldom use much data.
