Yes, I think 1 looks a bit lonely, too. WIth this type of fixture, I really could not go with one bigger one due to much larger height that they come with.

I really do like the look of these lights - though my kitchen may be a bit too small for these lantern types...

I forgot to give you my vote. Two looks better to me and I don't think they're too big at all. Using bigger pendants seems to be more stylish now (not that I'm an expert on style!).

For a 3' island I really think one pendant is adequate. Once hung; I'm afraid 2 would look too crowded. Here is some text from a lighting site:
"As for a lighting design over your island or table, typically, hanging pendants are hung from the ceiling 2 to 3 feet apart. So, if your island is 4 feet long, you should have no more than 2 pendants above it.

The total size of the pendant(s) should measure about 12 inches smaller than the width of your table. (For example, two pendant lights for a 3-foot counter would be suggested."

I think 2 looks better. With just one, it seems to me it should be centered on the kitchen window, but this would then not be centered with your island.

Your kitchen is looking really nice. I bet you are looking forward to finishing up! I, on the other hand, am looking forward to getting started.

I think your island can handle 2...and I think mpage is right..big is in. Even in a small kitchen, a big statement can be made..I think those will make a lovely one.

I don't think the single light looks lonely at all, but I notice that it's not centered in the window. I like that the two light fixtures sort of frame the window. So I'm jumping on the bandwagon as well and choosing two.

I vote for two as well. Looks more correct in the location. One might look unfinished or lonely. Good luck, I really like the lights.
