Comments (40)haaahaha...i now don't feel so bad knowing that a family of squirrels has taken up residence in my garage. good thing my garage is not attached to the house. but they have torn a huge hole in the back of my garage, and it seems that they are not even scared of me anymore. when i go in the garage, the mother squirrel does not even move from her spot up in the rafters. i swear today that one of them was waiting for me on my back porch....wtf?? thankfully my husband has just bought a giant assault rifle type pellet gun and is excited to use it. the squirrels have done so much damage to our garage, i almost feel like we might as well tear it down and build a new one. they have ripped down ALL the insulation, and the holes are ridiculous. so...good luck to all you squirrel hunters out there...and just remember...they might be cute..BUT THEY ARE STILL RATS!!!!...See MoreHow can I easily 'redo' grout..can I just go over it?
Comments (14)Thanks Floorman 67 and Bill! Now we know if we use a different product we might want to seal twice. Since I didn't know if anyone would comment back here, I used the feature on the Aqua Mix website to ask my question - I didn't expect to get an answer the same day - especially on a Sunday! Here's what they said. (I love getting the "why" along with the answer!) "The Aqua Mix Grout Colorant is a water-based epoxy that will seal the grout as it re-colors the surface. This epoxy based colorant will repel and NOT allow any liquids, acid, water, oil, or any other sealers to penetrate or absorb into the treated grout joints once it begins it's curing/drying process. IF you apply a sealer to this grout after the application of the Aqua Mix Grout Colorant the new sealer will just pool on the surface. If a sealer cannot penetrate a structure it cannot offer any additional benefits or protection." Here is a link that might be useful: Ask Aqua Mix...See MoreJust need to vent about this DIY kitchen!
Comments (7)Rae- DH does most of the work- I have been banned from touching walls because of all the cracks I put in the plaster walls in our last house when hanging pictures. I forgot to mention even though the job is a DIY- because of time constraints DH hung the drywall but we paid some handyman friend of my cousins to do all the taping and patching. We ended up paying him like 1300 bucks to get the job done before my 4 year old's birthday party in November- money down the drain since it has to be done again. I'm glad we didn't paint in there yet though. Years ago before we had kids- we would be fixing up and working together, now its mostly him because of the kids, they are still really little, and they need a lot of attention. Thanks for all your support- I'm really just hitting the wall w/ this renovation. I will never move again! We moved here in May and the whole house needed to be redone- not one upgrade since 1959! It was twice the size of our last house, and the property was 3 times the size, and we wouldn't be able to ever afford it if it had been in good condition. I think we are just in way over our heads- but there is no turning back now. Mo sgal- I really know what you mean by S...L...O....W Rmkitchen- I'm still laughing at the "vent" joke pcjs- thanks for the webpatch tip- I will tell DH Thanks everyone- I think DH will thank you too since I didn't wine to him this time- this GW thing might just be good for my marriage! Comments (31)I lurk her every night and feel like I know you all. I may be way off base but I have a 94 year old dad who still lives by himself, drive, shops, cooks and everything except what the cleaning lady does. A few years ago I also, with his blessing, told all his grandchildren, great grandchildren plus everyone else that there would no longer be any overnight visits at grandpas. Everyone was welcome to visit for a few hours but it was just too much for him to plan for dinners and breakfast for overnight guest. I have one niece who thought that it applied to everyone but her. She would show up unannounced with her family and just take over his house. I tried talking to her and was told in no uncertain terms that it was not my business. Well I walked in on one of her visits and she was questioning my dad about his will. I interrupted her and ask just what do you want to know. She again said it was not any of my business she was talking to her grandfather. My dad finally said if you want to know anything you better listen to your aunt she is in charge of all my money and the executor of my will and all my trusts. Turn out she wanted one of his vacation homes. I explained to her his entire estate would be left to her mother and me and if she wanted to know anymore about it she should talk to her mother. Well needless to say that visit ended shortly and funny thing is she has not been back. It really hurt my dadâÂÂs feeling to find out she only visited him because she wanted something. Now I think I know where some of the things missing out of the house have gone but dad would probably given her anything she wanted if she had ask. I know what you mean about you are damned if you do and damned if you donâÂÂt. I am the one that looks out for my dadâÂÂs best interest. After my mother died he handed all their business dealing to me said he just didnâÂÂt want to do it. I give him a monthly report that he signs off on, all very legal, but sometimes I feel like an employee reporting to the chairman of the board instead of a daughter. He told me to sell the vacation home!...See MoreCEFreeman
