Requesting pics of your backsplash with Bianco Romano granite?

I would like to see what backsplash you used if you have Bianco Romano, Kashmir White, or Colonial Cream granite countertops.

Pbear, I just responded to a different thread saying I saw what I thought was a crema marfil backspash in a small subway pattern. Very pretty.

I have Bianco Romano granite with Bianco Carrera subway tile. Simple but we love the combination.

Not sure if this is what you had in mind. Good luck! We love our granite and backsplash.

Oh my -- do you have to pick so theoretically? That is, can you get much of the other stuff up and running so that you can see the context a little better, set the tiles up against the counter with the floor in sight and choose *then*? ~one who's expert at delaying choices as long as possible. Speaking of which, it's pulls-time....

UKAlison--I think that the backsplash sounds pretty. I'm a sucker for marble though. But with that being said, and not seeing a photo, I can tell you from my own experience of testing marble with it, it was just too competitive with my granite. It's hard to explain, especially when you see my backsplash. Even though mine has an "oh wow" factor to it, it is essentially a solid color. And that is what still makes it possible to have the counter be the star of the kitchen. I am a very visual person. This might not make any sense to you. After your counters are in, go to the tile store, bring home some samples and see what you like. Take photos, post them, ask opinions. Make sure to get some plain subways too, even beveled subways. A beveled subway will help give the plain subway a little pizazz, something the BA deserves. You need to bring home all the contenders. Also look at different shape subways, 2x6, or even larger format ones. I hope my response isn't too confusing. Most of us go through what you are going through. Sometimes we find one in the store and are sure that it's the one, but then later realize it's not when we put the two together at home. Looking forward to a post from you later today with the counter reveal. Take photos during installation too.

Still don't have pictures to upload (soon, I hope), but we have settled on a porcelain tile that has a stone look--Edimax - Materia Forte in Basaltica. It's got grey tones, which look better with our granite than brown tones. We plan to use 4 x 4 tiles and do random accents of oil rubbed bronze 4 x 4 tiles, which will match our cabinet pulls and bring out the copper in the granite. This satisfies my DH, who wanted a more "natural" look than ceramic tile, but will also be very maintenance friendly. I really appreciate your feedback on the travertine. I was ready to give in and use it, but your comments about the true purpose of a backsplash really gave me pause, and a better compromise was reached. Thanks again. I hope to figure out and post preliminary pictures sometime next week, although the backsplash and finish electrical is not done. Are pictures of your kitchen posted? Would love to see it, too.

Thanks Trebruchet! I'll mention to him. Do you know if it will pass inspection that way?? They also mentioned I needed a 3" backsplash for it to pass inspection. Usually it's a 3" granite. I was hoping to avoid the 3" of granite as backsplash. PurpleEyes, your kitchen is beautiful!! Give it the credit it's due!!! ;). Love the backsplash. We are doing exactly what you did with the riser and moulding to take our cabinets to the ceiling. If I may, how many inches of moulding and riser did you use? Chiefniel, in the mood for sharing pics?? :)

I really liked the kitchen lab Chicago one too. If I were to be doing it again... We did ours in December 2004 so I am pleased it is still photographable. Happy birthday to my 6 year old kitchen. We have sure enjoyed it and it still looks great! (Nothing trendy, really.)

It looks like the backsplash on the kitchen lab one is a light green glass tile which I never would have pictured with Bianco Romano. Of course, it's hard to tell the true colors on the internet.

I have Bianco Romano granite and got my backsplash installed last week after more than a year and a half of trying to decide which tiles to choose!
