XPost-Paint selection help (photos incl)

I am finishing a complete remodel of kitchen/dining room. The rooms are (now) open to each other. I have selected the kitchen color and could really use some advice on the dining room.

Some specifics:

kitchen wall color - smokey blue SW

kitchen cabinets medium maple (orange/brown hue, not red)

Astrix/asterix granite (busy black with browns, tans, silvers, grays)

Natural red oak hardwood in both rooms

plenty of natural & artificial light

no existing dining room furtiture/decor to match

open to area rug in DR

may stain new DR table/chairs/corner hutch to match cabinetry

I would like to dining a wine motif in the dining room if it works with the paint colors.

Dining room opens to front foyer/hallway which is painted pale sky blue (SW atmospheric).

I have tried 3 colors and vetoed them (aspargus looking dark green, 2 yellows (SW nut meat and a pale/green yellow)).

A few ideas I had but haven't sampled are:

deep maroon/wine color

a very very pale purple or pink (almost a tint)

or even continuing the smokey blue throughout

I am so undecided I would love some advice.

Ok, so photobucket is not cooperating and I cannot load all of the photos I want to.

Largest wall space in kitchen with sample of smokey blue:

View of smokey blue against cabinets:

Here is a partial view of the kitchen from the side of the dining room (dining room to the back of the photo taker). You cannot see the left side of the galley kitchen, which is a 12' long wall of cabinets/range/OTR micro/sink/DW:

Since I can't load any photos of dining room, it's a square room (12x12) which is completely open to the kitchen. There are 2 large windows and a central chandelier. Same flooring throughout.

Looking forward to your ideas on dining room colors.

Thanks in advance,

Stacy
