Where did you buy your farm sink

I'm getting ready to decide on my sink, things I know, I want a white farm sink, either fireclay or cast iron, apron front would be ok but not set on it. I'm getting overwhelmed on where to buy and what a good price is.

I found a Rohl RC3018 30 x 18 x 10 for $980.00 at designerplumbing.com One estimate I had from a KD had one built in my cabinet estimate but she never did tell me what the price was. Is there a comparable sink to Rohl but less expensive?

I've also looked at Kohler Dickinson and a few others. I've gone to HD to look but they never have any on display.

When we began our remodel we knew we wanted one large sink, simple and clean and cast iron. We got the Kohler Dickinson from Expo and have been thrilled and delighted with it. Everyone who sees our kitchen goes wild for the sink. It is simple but large and quite striking. We are cooks and really use our kitchen and it has been just great. I'd get it again.

We called around to local stores because people here suggested any problems would be difficult to deal with if it's bought online.

galaxytools.com has an excellent selection of ss sinks, if that's what you're looking for. but they sell only their label, ticor, sinks, some of which look like copies of blanco sinks. i was set on a blanco myself, but read sterling reviews of glaxytools' sinks here on GW, and wound up buying from them, at a tremendous savings. my contractor thinks it's a great sink. the soundproofing on it, he says, is what they spray the undercarriage of cars with. it's heavy duty and well-made. and i bet if you call in the order for "several" of them, you can negotiate a fat discount. i'm still waitin gon countertops, so can't comment on it's usage. however, i can vouch for their great customer (phone) serivce.

I bought my Whitehaus from bluebath.com Very nice people. Quick to respond to questions. No shipping. I asked for and got a discount. Their site is difficult to navigate if you use the search box so I wouldn't go about it that way. I'd go to sinks. And if all else fails, email them. They'll send you the exact link. They are also on eBay. The prices are the same either place. I was very satisfied and if I were going to buy something they carried I'd go there again. Unfortunately, a Shaw's isn't in our budget for our new kitchen (in our new house) to be built next year. But we do have an Ikea not too far away, so the main clean-up sink is the Domsjo double-bowl apron-front sink, and the prep sink on the island will be the Domsjo single-bowl apron-front sink. Not a very helpful answer, I'm afraid! And yes, I do prefer a double-bowl sink for my washing up : ). I was so nervous (or paranoid, I suppose) that Ikea would discontinue the sinks (which I've heard can be hard to find anyway in some cities), that we bought them last month, even though we aren't starting construction until next spring... But I don't think they need to be matching, unless that's what you like. I have wanted a Belfast sink for the past 25 years, since graduating from university, so nothing besides budget was going to change my mind! Where online did you buy your Silgranit sink?

I bought my blanco silgranit from Homeclick; they were about ten dollars higher than Home and Stone but they had what I wanted in stock. Plus they carried the custom cutting board that Home and Stone did not have. Homeclick offered free shipping on orders over $199, so by getting the sink grids and cutting board on the same order I saved some money instead of ordering them at a later date. I got a great deal on my Whitehaus from Home & Stone. They have both an eBay and a web store. Fabulous packaging, no problems with UPS delivery.

circuspeanut, I saw Home & Stone on Ebay, they have good feedback. I live remotely now and might need to go that way unless I want to pay a premium to a kitchen design shop where the prices seemed high, or spend a whole day of travel to shop around.

Is it best to buy a sink that is a standard set size such as the Dickenson or Whitehaus rather than say a Rohl that has a +- factor if I am not having custom cabinets made?

From Home and Stone - ebay store. Great experience - shipped quickly, packaged well. Cabinet maker happy that it is fairly uniform shape so we have been able to shift it slightly in sink cabinet based on type of reveal I want w/counter. Haven't actually had water in it yet, but it looks great!

I don't think this matters for an apron/exposed farm sink, since you will need to have the sink fitted and scribed into the top base front by your carpenter/GC, no matter which brand the cabinets are.

If you're doing an undermount, I imagine it would probably be best to get one that's more regular, like a Kohler or Whitehaus, so that the edges are more or less even all the way 'round. (But I'm no expert!)

Just checked your link alice462 and they are having a 10% off sale that ends Monday. I've narrowed it down to Home and Stone or the designersplumbing store.

Now to narrow down the sink, I'm leaning to fireclay through, the plumbing place says the rohl fireclay is scratch and stain resistant so I'm thinking all fireclay's must be as such

Not a farm sink but I have the Rohl Allia which I purchased from Quality Bath. If you are looking at the Franke, look at Homeclick. I have found their prices cheaper than Ebay on the 24" Apron Fireclay Franke that I was looking at.

katybugg, I'm getting a fireclay farmhouse sink and was also told that fireclay is stain and scratch resistant. I really hope it's true because my current Kohler porcelain over cast iron scratches and stains super easily and I'm eager to get rid of it.

Here's the sink I'm ordering. I'll probably be buying online from one of the recommended vendors. Quality Bath is also doing a 10% off sale right now.

Thank You everyone, I ended up purchasing the Rohl 3018 from Home and Stone Web store. It was really between the Dickinson and the Rohl, I couldn't make up my mind and asked DH which one he liked and he immediately picked the Rohl, said he liked the way it looked. That made it easy as I like them all!

I will let you know how it goes. Now, maybe on to order the cabinets today or tomorrow, I want to ask the KD about the breakdown of charges, mainly the installation charge which is 13K, Lowes estimated 2K for installation. can't figure that one out

Katy, Quick before you order.... read this thread: "Disappointed in my Rohl 3018 Sink -Repair?" It sounds worrisome. Just be fully informed. This is what tipped me towards the Kohler. These issues and I preferred the thicker front edge.

I have had two Rohl Allia, one single and one double sink and never had a problem with them. I dropped pans, knives and glassware in them and no impart to the sink at all. There are lemons in every brand.
