The only insert I bought from my cabinet maker was a wooden flatware divider. It's custom made to fit my 24" drawer and was "field installed", meaning it's removable. (They also make permanent ones built into the drawer itself...but you can't remove them to clean them!)

I don't have pictures in Photobucket of my flatware drawer and I'm at work so I cannot take one right now, sorry!

I have a a fairly large collection of silver which is used every day. I've found that individual plastic bins work best for me. I can easily rearrange them if needed, and they're easy to clean. I line the bottom of each bin with Pacific Silver Cloth, which helps to keep tarnish to a minimum.

I had a fairly unusual problem. I lost drawers when I remodeled because going with the larger sink base I wanted, the larger corner cabinet with the super susan, etc. used up space and I ended up with one less cabinet with a drawer on top and one larger cabinet with pot drawers and a very large top drawer for utensils. I had to make the most of that large drawer, so I ordered an acrylic insert. I wanted to order a custom made one, and drew it up with exactly each size divider I needed, but when I got a price I thought it just way too high for me, so I went with the closest "standard" size they offer. I still thought it was pricey, I had no idea acrylic could be so expensive, but it does make the drawer much more efficient, and keeps the items organized and easy to find. I have a much smaller drawer for large items, and a crock on top of the counter that I had hoped to eliminate.

I've used binning strips and wood dividers in my large utensil roll out, when we redo the kitchen I will be using them for my flatware as well.

Click the link and scroll down. You attach the binning strips to the inside of your drawer with an adhesive pad they give you, but I decided to use command adhesive strips instead.

Holy Cow stephanielynn! I've been looking for something like what you posted for almost a year. Do you have a picture you can post of what yours looks like - It's hard to tell what the birch strips look like from the picture?

I use 2 silverware dividers. I LOVE them!!!

I got lucky and was able to find these photos I put on tinypic.com ages ago for another poster with a similar question. The dividers came from Ikea a couple years ago, all wood and very customizable. If they don't have this exact product now they may have something similar.

Islander, who made your organizer, or where did you buy it? Is it adjustable? I love it.

i have the same one as islander. it is adjustable (the sides slight out). Islander has two of them side by side. I am almost definite we got it at bed bath and beyond.

Chevkev, I'll try to get pics tonight. I use them in a fairly deep rollout for whisks, spatulas, tongs, all the big stuff. I really like them.

The birch is light colored, with no finish on it that I can feel, but it is smooth to the touch.

My DH made ours for all our drawers - silverware and other utensils. They are a combination of frankoma and 1sandler's. I love them - keeps everything so neat.

raehelen - Thank you for another good option. stephanielynn's would be my first choice if it stays stationary and sturdy because it looks easier to change configurations

Raehelen- Thanks for that link. I just ordered some to try. $4.10 US dollars and free shipping. I have custom sized (that means odd sized!)drawers, and most inserts have to be modified. The peel and stick ones don't hold on my drawers (perhaps the finish is too smooth?). I switched and tried a permanent 3M peel and stick and those still move around on me.

I had a custom wood divider made (Omega custom) and use a bamboo one for all my French silver in another drawer. My best silver is in a silver drawer in the formal dining room I also had a custom knife drawer made as well. Will try for pics
