Thoughts on Pantry Pull-Out Cabinets
Comments (33)I had a huge wide open space and opted for one 15" tall pullout. I keep bulk baking items under the baking area in a 36" deep drawer, and a spice drawer. Cereal is above the frige. This maximized countertop for me - what I wanted. I do not do bulk warehouse shopping so this works well. I also have about 15 cu ft storage in mudroom for bulk when our favorite cereal or coffee goes on sale because those are the most expensive items we buy - otherwise we use little to no prepared items. If you want all these items in you pantry, I estimate you will need at least two 15" wide units. If you buy lots of prepared items, or do warehouse shopping this may not be enough food storage - think about the way your family lives. I had 24" wide pullouts two houses ago and things were hard to find in the huge drawer - this may not be an issue for someone who is more organized than me....See Morenear fridge...counter/drawers or pull out 'pantry'
Comments (18)OK, I am clearly inept at this. I think if you click on the pic, it will bring you to the album and you can resize there. I have tried doing it and it is blurry...and I can't get it uploaded. If this is still awful, let me know and I will try again. Thank you. The "wall" oven is actually under a counter next to the cooktop (it is a rangetop and cant be installed directly underneath). The south wall, as we are thinking, would be like a buffet or a nice furniture piece...but that is not in stone either. We thought about putting a see-through fireplace there. We thought about having the fridge and wall oven/microwave there....See MorePull-Out Pantry Doors vs Roll-Out Shelves
Comments (4)I agree with you- I think pullout shelves are better. Though, unfortunately I can't tell you from personal experience, as my carpenter is telling me that they will be delivered tomorrow morning first thing- (if I had a dime for every time he's promised delivery- been waiting since February!) Anyhow, I do have the pantry pullout on one side of my floor to ceiling cupboards (have 18" cabinets on either side of fridge). I had to get that as I wanted space to hang brooms, mops, vacuum attachments, etc, and I could get a side mount pullout attached to one side, leaving room on the other side. The problem is access, even though it is full extension, you have the shelf above hampering your reach. I guess it's not a problem if you have lots of space between shelves, but then what's the point in that? My pullout shelves will be about 4" deep, with a half circle cutout in front- if they do arrive tomorrow, I can take pics- I am SO looking forward to having them installed- been using 16" deep shelves in a 24" deep cupboard, pain in the butt to reach to the back to access items. As you can see, shelves made just a little too wide!!!...See MorePantry pull out shelves -- feedback on finishing
Comments (28)thanks for posting the pics, Honu3421, beachem, spaknitter and karenesb - your pantries all look great. We met today with our cab maker and he is going to re-space the shelving, and said that's no problem. As for the aesthetics of the spacers, he's going to make false fronts for the drawers which will cover the spacers. I showed him this thread and examples of pantries that I liked. Hopefully problem is solved - thanks for the input and sharing photos....See Morejoemiles
