music for cooking

Hi. A workspace must have music right?

I presumed we would put speakers in the ceiling connected to a cabinet somewhere, but DH says the speakers would get filthy in no time. He wants to default to another undercabinet radio/cd player. But this would likely end up right in the line of sight from the doorway to the gorgeous range, backsplash and bazillion dollar hood.

Any advice (I'm a newbie on this topic)? Can ceiling speakers be cleaned?

I would love to put speakers over the main prep area, and I was thinking the noise of the sink might justify an extra set of speakers there? or not. It's not a huge kitchen.

How do people with all those clean empty counters manage without music?
