Two chandelier over island

I love chandelier so plan to have two above my island. My island size is 67"L x 38"W. Ceiling height is 99" and the chandelier is 26"H X 16"W, do you think that they are the right size for my island?

Besides, I know the general rule for hanging chandelier is about 30" above the dining table, does the same rule apply for kitchen island? I am 5'6", will that affect the height decision?

I love chandelier above islands (have one myself) but my initial reaction is 2 is one too many here. I would mock it up. Cut out a 26" round disk from cardboard and hang from the ceiling with string. This may help determining the height too for the chandelier. I had my electrician hold my chandelier at different heights until I got one that I liked. Your island is the size of a smallish dining room table. Most people would not have two chandeliers above a table that small. I think 2 pendants would be OK because they don't take up that much horizontal space. Your 2 chandeliers take up almost all of your horizontal space.

Two is two too many of the size you have indicated. Even one of that size will be too large for your smaller island. Oversize lighting fixtures is one of those trends that will be a "what were they thinking" in a few years and will quickly date a kitchen to the "early teens".

Two mini pendants or one medium sized chandy is what is size appropriate.

Not ridiculous. It sounds like the right diameter. I think you do need a high ceiling to carry this off, however. I'm having a little bit of a problem with two drum shades, however. In my opinion, two traditional branching chandeliers would reinforce each other. Two opaque drums are also additive, though demand more volume (bigger room, higher ceiling) because of the width and opacity. The combination traditional branching chandelier with lusters and the sheer drum looks really cool, with the juxtaposition of such opposites. Doing two of them, however, rather than reinforcing the look, takes away the surprise, and makes it just a little weird for me. You said it was one you like. Is there something a little more straightforward that you like as well in the size you're looking for?

We are renovating our house - the kitchen is 21.75' x 15.5'. Island is 47.5" x 104.5". We are wanting to put 2 chandeliers over the island. Chandeliers are 26.5" W x 24.5" H. The staircase is off center to the middle of the island so using only one chandelier would enhance that it is off center. (The smaller version of the light is 21" W x 22.5" H, however it is not as pretty and does not have that same WOW factor). Just wondered if anyone else has 2 big chandeliers over their island so I can see what the effect looks like!

Yes, it would be a chandelier. :) So "to scale" would just disregard the length calculation then? Use: A standard 8-foot ceiling requires a chandelier that is 20-24 inches in height. Choose a chandelier whose width is at least half the smallest diameter of your table, and no larger than the smallest diameter of your table less 12". In our case the width should be between 20." and 29".

Lavender, sometimes the photos take awhile. Photos load as greyed-out. Wait till it changes to a more vibrant color. Then it has populated and you can "submit".

From a GW poster back in June:
"ake the width of the room in feet and add to the length in feet. The total is the width in inches of your chandelier. So in an 8 x 10 room, you use an 18" chandelier. Also, if you're straddling 2 sizes, go bigger. Especially in a room with a high ceiling. Also, a visually airy chandy supposedly looks larger than a a bulky one."
So question is... what are the dimensions of your room? Either way, 2 is one too many. Lighting is typically place 3-4 feet apart.
