I've rooted leaves in mix, that can take around a year. I've recently water rooted a stem, but didn't make note of the date I put it up. I took these pix, 'cause they show the round tuber AND the roots the plant develops. I really don't remember how long it took, but am guessing 9 months maybe, like from last Fall (I think I had accidentally broken the stem off the parent plant). and and So if you can grow some serious patience, you might end up w/ something like this. I rooted some cuttings in water and some leaves in soil but it did take more than 6 months. I now have a lovely little plant about 4" tall. Well -- our old USED cars were bought in 1997: a) 1993 BMW wagon (146,000 miles) and had been repaired MANY times -- and currently needed the whole AC replaced. Frankly I was getting too scared to drive her anymore -- wondering what would break down next. This car did NOT qualify for the program -- and became a trade-in. I would imagine that its value was in the parts that I replaced over the last two years! So its parts may benefit someone! b) 1993 Lexus (185,000 miles) This car DID qualify for the program -- and was leaking "something" onto the driveway -- and the very last time DH drove it to the dealership -- even HE said that he was glad for it to be gone too! Interior lights didn't work; the sunroof didn't work -- lots of mechanical issues. I really don't think the either car would be a good "clunker" for anyone else -- unless they had the money for the expensive repairs! WE HAD ALREADY PLANNED TO REPLACE BOTH CARS! Out of sheer necessity. Again I state: we saved for TWO years. We argued and checked out cars for last six months. We NEVER planned to get NEW cars -- the "fates" simply rolled them our way!! We had been looking for USED ones -- but the prices for the outgoing 2009 ones were NOT that much more than the used ones!!! And we negotiated HARD. And paid in cash. So the program helped us! :) We ended up with two 2009 Nissan Versas (subcompacts) with warranties for three years. Jan at the poor-but-planned Rosemary Cottage

Michelle, regarding Subzero 700 36inch R/F combo: they have very little crisper drawers. I know couple families that have them and they are not happy about that. The interior is very different from the Subzero BI models which have excellent layout. I passed the subzero for that reason... I have a paneled Thermador 36, just like Staceydx above. Having said that the Subzero design is more 'integrated' in that the horizontal line is at 36 inches above the floor, which is exactly where the counter top occurs. The there are two drawers at the bottom which can be 'matched' with your adjacent drawers and often are. The "look" is more in keeping with that flowing horizontal line of the countertops. If I were you, I would do 27 inch all frig/pantry to match and the freezer elsewhere. i know that this will add to the price but this will be only a fraction of the total kitchen budget. Once you pencil in the cost differential, you will see that it's not that much.

I have a Wilsonart kitchen sink that is integrated with the laminate counter top. I have had it for about 4 years now, and have not experienced a problem. I like not having a lip around the edge of the sink that catches crumbs, etc., and makes it difficult to clean. Before, I was always having to take a knife & scrape under the edge to get all the gunk out. Now, I just wisk everything into the sink, including water. It is not possible for this sink to leak around the edge, because it has a lip that is set into a routed edge on the hole in the counter top, and then the laminate is applied in normal fashion over that. If water cannot get under the edge of the laminate, then it also cannot get under the sink edge, either. Of course, down the road, if the adhesive fails, this would change, but I have not heard of that in many years. I know it used to do so back in the day. I like the sink so well that I had one installed in the new counter top in my bathroom, and especially love that the edge of that one doesn't trap hair, soap, etc. I have noted that the material sometimes stains (like from cleaning paint brushes, tomato sauce, etc.), but a spray of Softscrub with bleach quickly removes the discoloration & the sink looks new again. I would advise NEVER to use anything caustic or that could scratch the surface. This, I imagine, would open it up to discoloration beneath the surface that could be permanent. That means no metal scrubbing pads or scouring powder. Normally, I just clean the sink (and all my kitchen & bath surfaces) with a mixture of white vinegar, rubbing alcohol and soda water (equal proportions), with a little lemon juice mixed in for a fresh smell. This works as-good-as or better than any store-bought product I have tried. It also works great on upholstery and carpet, and is totally natural and harmless to people and my cats.
