I bought two Rohl's (A1679 and A 1680) from FaucetDirect.com a couple months ago. Very good experience. It's worth calling on the phone as the reps seem to have ability for further discounts. I worked with David at 800-864-2555 x 454. I went to web site first and scoped everything out, then with my info on my computer screen I gave them a call.

I just bit the bullet, after much searching and agonizing, and got the P&R bridge. The main difference for me was that I wanted the side spray and 2 legs. The Rohl Country with side spray is 3 leg as opposed to the P&R which is the 2 leg style I prefer. The finish changes the price a lot, I went with chrome for $1200 (satin nickel would have added $400!) The only other company I found that made a 2 leg bridge faucet with side spray was Newport Brass, but I was dissuaded by the plumber (leak issues) and told that cost was similar (tho you can find Newport on line about $700). Also consider Grohe Bridgeport for a 3 leg bridge w/spray at about $800. Other on line sites I found good prices for P and R were amazon and vintagetub, if you feel comfortable ordering on line. We have two hand held showers from the same manufacturer. The first was bought in 2008 as part of a rain shower system for our master bath. It is heavy duty brass with a polished chrome finish. the second one, (same model ) was bought in 2010 for the kid's bath. Just the hand held shower is plastic but it matches the polished chrome of the rain shower and shower controls exactly. After dropping the heavy chrome one onto the tile floor of the master bath shower, I really appreciate the plastic one in the kid's bath . If it was brass/chrome, and dropped into the tub we'd surely have a chipped bath tub. I should add the shower head is a very minimalist modern design with quite a sharp edge on top. Like this:

Rohl is a very reputable brand. Solid brass which accounts for the majority of the higher cost. The internal components of all the major brands are on a par with one another (plumbers tend to have their preference, but in practice, all are good). With regards to the one recently replaced. I would imagine the plumber was trying to tighten the faucet with the drain and disposal all in place. It can be very difficult to get behind an undermount sink in this scenario. If you were to replace it with something different, the plumber most likely will have to take out the drain and disposal if there is one in order to gain sufficient access to put in the new one. With the cost of the roll you already have on towards $800.00, if you love it, have them (or a different plumber if necessary), take out the drain/disposal so they can get back there and secure the one you have. You may want to send the picture of your other faucet to Rohl. They may warranty it. Chances may not be great, but it doesn't hurt. I just had a gentlemen call me regarding a kitchen remodel I did about five years ago. He was the new owner and had a problem with his kitchen faucet. I gave him the model number and other particulars, and the company send him replacement parts free of charge. Different company (not as nice as Rohl either), but give it a try. I believe roll has a lifetime warranty on finishes for the most part (think they have a few of them that don't). They may determine that at some point it wasn't cared for properly and deny (I'm not saying that it wasn't cared for properly, but that may be the response you get). Long and short, get the newer one tightened up, and if you like Rohl and they don't warranty it, you should feel confident purchasing another Rohl as a replacement.
