My mistake. I had a Touchtronic, not a Novotronic. Not sure where my mind went on that. I had one of the 800 series. I miss it. Well, the saga continues. The little connector came in and the repairman came last week to put it on my dishwasher. I wasn't home when he fixed it (I was out of town), so I don't know if he actually tested it, but I discovered that the detergent door STILL isn't opening. SO, I put in another call to Miele. They were very nice to make sure someone came out the next day. This time they sent a senior tech to diagnose (honestly, I think they thought I was nuts). He came today, spent quite a lot of time trying to figure out what was wrong. Finally discovered that when the rinse aid leaked into the wire, in addition to eating the wire, it shorted out one part of the computer. But of course that part wasn't on the truck. Soooo, here's hoping that when the computer gets replaced, it will all work again.

There have been service bulletins for covering the board on some specific models and serial numbers in the past. You don't provide the model, serial, or part number involved on your unit, so there's no reasonable way for anyone here to search-out relevant details. Perhaps you could that yourself. Google can be your friend. :-)

Well we went and picked out a new dishwasher to be delivered on Friday. I did call about mine, the serial and model numbers were not included in the recall list, and it was manufactured in 2003. Because of that and that I caught it before any damage was done other than the plastic items. No cabinets damaged by fire etc there was nothing I qualify for. I guess if I had let it go and burn up the kitchen I might have qualified for $200 discount on a new GE. No thanks I don't want another GE. I bought a new kitchenaid just like the one I had in my other house which I loved. I will never leave any type of appliance on when we are not there. We were extremely lucky to have been home this time. I had no paperwork for the GE since it was in the new house. I thought it was newer than it was. 2003 is not ancient of course but appliances do not last like they used to! I am glad if my experience helps anyone else prevent it from happening to them. It was a wake up call!
