Matching 80s Crown Molding for Kitchen remodel HELP
Comments (6)That looks like a very common Kelleher molding. I would suggest taking the sample to an actual lumber yard or molding provider. I don't usually include Lowes or HD in that category. You can call and ask them if they sell Kelleher molding. You can also download Kelleher's catalog. Worse comes to worse, you can get it custom made. My favorite local molding house is SF Victoriana. They are willing to match older moldings, but I doubt you will need to do that. Here is a link that might be useful: SF Victoriana...See MoreKitchen crown molding
Comments (5)Do you really need crown on the rest of the walls? That's the easy way out--just do crown on the cabinets and skip the walls. Orrr, OK, crazy maybe, you could do a very flat, not really crown but just trim piece on the cabinets and then go with the white crown elsewhere. But I agree you don't want the stained trim all around (unless your home has it everywhere) and you really don't want white crown on your stained cabinets......See MoreWhich color and sheen for kitchen cab crown molding?
Comments (3)I can't do all the trim in the rest of the house SuperWhite because it was just painted with the Decorators White. We had to cover the White Dove or Linen so Romy, I know exactly what difference you are talking about. The painter felt that going to the SuperWhite would require more coats and cost more money than going to the Decorator's White. But at the same time, he said that I wouldn't really notice the difference between the Decorator's white and the SuperWhite and that maybe all the molding should be Decorator's White to have one color. Good idea to have him test it. Maybe one version is just the cabinet molding SuperWhite, satin sheen and the adjacent Decorator White Semi-gloss. The different sheens might give the illusion it is the same color but just a different sheet. I could also try all Decorator's White Semi. There is some of the Decorator's white on the door to the dining room which borders the kitchen cabinets but the lighting isn't very good there to compare the two colors side by side. Thank you! Comments (41)I am so grateful for this feedback I have received today. And thank you again PPF and Bryan911 for all the helpful details. I am going to see about a new upper cabinet. We’ve put too much into this project to let two upper cabinets good us up :) I had a lot of people including a designer I hired for a short time out eyes on this, and we still missed it. Just goes to show you how difficult it can be to build a house and get all the details to work out as hoped. PPF — the reason we broke up the expanse of the pantry door with shaker panels was since we wanted it to look integrates with the cabinetry and to break up the tall doors since we have 10’ ceilings. I do agree also about hinges that can be hidden. It also annoys me that they are such a bright gold when my lights and cabinet hardware will be more of an aged, satin brass. Is it easy to switch out hinges and not mess up the doors?...See Moresingingmicki
