I think you are asking me? If not....sorry... I will take the tile up cabinet height around my window as there are cabinets on both sides.....I am leaving the rest of the window without trim as I have 2 & 7/8" from cabinet to edge of window...and thought I would put a small trim around it...but then when they put the light rail up there is only 1 & 7/8"..so think it's too small for trim.....What is everyone's opinion? Just found out today...that the guys that was going to do the tile (looks like they work as a team) won't be able to do it until the one that is having knee surgery is able to work ...which could be weeks!! He came today to get paid for all the other work he did...and I asked him if his partner would go ahead and put the tile up.....He is suppose to let me know... Oh well I've waited this long....and really not long at all...so a few more weeks is OK....just anxious to see the kitchen completely finished...now that I finally have the Subway tile sitting in boxes waiting to be installed.

I have Sonoma Tile crackle in a light cream. My stove also has about a 10" riser (which I've grown attached to). My b/s has been in for about 16 months and I haven't had a single problem with it. I was warned that it needed to be sealed before installation so that grout wouldn't seep into the crackles. The tile guys said they sealed it but I'm not convinced they did. Anyway, no grout got into the crackles at all. The surface looks the same as the day it was installed. I don't fling spaghetti sauce every which way when I cook. The crackling in my tile is very fine. I don't really see it unless I get up very very close. Instead it just adds a little life to the surface.

I saw a vanity display in a slab showroom where they used large format porcelain tiles to create a vanity top with a 4" thick mitered edge and an integrated sink. It looked like it was all carved out of a large slab of stone. I don't remember the brand, but the color had "Marfil" in its name. Take a look at the photos I posted on this earlier thread on May 16. (My firm blocks access to Photobucket, so I can't post them again in this thread.) You want to make sure you use a fabricator who has worked with this product before. Tabarka tile is DEFINITLEY a ceramic product. I would think it is the glaze that became damaged from excessive heat not the tile.
