Comments (5)Thank you! Cooperbailey and amcofar, your kitchens are beautiful -- mine is, I hope, going in the same cottagey direction. When I looked at the backsplash slideshow I realized that I needed to worry less about the white and offwhite as long as the overall mood/feel stays the same (e.g., don't mix cottagey stuff with high tech)....See MoreWhat backsplash with cream cabinet/antique brown granite?
Comments (8)oohh, I love your kitchens! Thank you for sharing:) Remodelfa, the samples I carried home were all tumbled cream stone with pink undertones...I realized after looking here that that's probably contributing to the problem: the shiny dark granite is not working with the tumbled stone. I think I need to look at the polished tiles, or the crackled tiles. Lissa's kitchen is beautiful; her colours are very similar to mine. LOL, Rhome - when I was envisioning my kitchen last winter, I always thought of baked goodies when I thought of the colours:cream with chocolate frosting, chocolate with vanilla frosting (for the island)! Weedyacres - couldn't find "matte" subway tiles like yours but this is what I initially had in mind. Jeannie kitchen - beautiful insert tile (and I'm loving your stove) Thank you to everyone who kindly responded:)...See MoreHelp with backsplash to lighten up busy granite with cream cabinets
Comments (11)the molding between wall and ceiling throws everything off, due to the super glossy white paint used for that row, all around ,and the very white ceiling. I like the paint color Cornforth white-shown above ..I would use that color with 20-30% less intensity and paint all walls, ceiling molding and ceiling with it. With no plans to redo the kitchen, let the nice cabinets have their presence, and reduce the conflict with the glaring ceiling molding with a subtle paint job. Then get some soft and textural mats on floor in the right locations for yourselves, and some sort of area rug in living/seating zones.Removal of stripe valances is probably a good move... but can wait if you want....I personally like something at windows..could just do a cellular shade in neutral at kitchen window and leave shades in dinette, remove valances. Neutral walls and ceiling ,and some rugs would do wonders and I think surprise you pleasantly.....See Morewhite backsplash with cream cabinets?
Comments (8)WAIT until your tops are installed. Do not let them cut or install any counter top risers . Then get thee to a decent tile store and tote home some SOFT white subway sample!!! tiles. No bevels, just simple 2x8, or similar. Select, then match the grout to the tile. You will have more than enough oomph from the granite. Youre just looking for a nice simple blend in tone between cabinet and counter top tones ....See Moreellendi
