Dark Cherry Cabinets, Can I see your hardware?

We are going for an old world theme in our new home, using the oil rubbed bronze (dark) look on most lighting fixtures, doorknobs, faucets, etc...

Our kitchen cabinets are going to be a dark cherry (Burgundy) and for the basic hardware, our cabinet designer only has black... otherwise we go up to the next price bracket...

So I'm not sure if black will look nice, since we are using the darker end of oil rubbed bronze fixtures... or if I should do another color or just pay for the ORB...

We did Cherry with a Ginger Glaze. Our knobs are from Home Depot and the Great Indoors - after bring home several dozen to figure out what I wanted as well as a few off the internet.

I love ORB - our light fixtures, knobs, are door handles ORB. I will switch our our faucet at some point but we've been lazy.

I would not use black with ORB. We got the free ones at the store that were more black than ORB and I didn't like them. I saved them for the basement for when we put in cabinets.

I have painted cabinets with a red-stained cherry hutch. I used ORB on the painted cabs and antique copper-finished knobs and pulls on the cherry hutch. Kitchen isn't done yet or I'd be happy to share pics.

Anthomeinva- Will look at the Dakota knobs. I see you have beautiful soapstone, too. Badgergal-We hadn't heard of Hickory Hardware and will investigate; beautiful cabinets. Prospect-Looks like you have soapstone countertops, too. We love your floor. Enduring-Love your backsplash; what material did you use? Sloane-We think your photos convinced us to select satin/brushed nickel. Lovely view! Labbie-We will look at Top Knobs web site - beautiful kitchen Mayflowers-the ORB does not look dated and is a nice choice for you kitchen-especially with the lighter floor and counters. Thank you all again for taking the time to post photos of your beautiful kitchens and share information. As you may have noted I wanted soapstone (not so much DH). We did not choose soapstone because I was scared off by the discussions about softness. I still LOVE the way it looks, especially with natural cherry. MJ

Now you have all made me lean on this computer and bawl my eyes out. Well...not quite, but I am sick with envy and remorse. :D Beautiful kitchens are shown by all and you must be terribly thrilled. Let me say that I have a 36" GE Profile that is practically sitting in the pathway, beckoning every purse and bookbag that enters this house. Each day that I sit and sip my coffee, I notice a new ding on this stainless monstrosity. My cute, perky and dimwitted kd skipped out as soon as the plans were drawn and the appliances were already ordered. (I think she went to Hollywood to apply for "The Bachelor") DH and I were left to muddle through on our own with the very patient GC. I found you guys too late....I already had about SIX INCHES of the fridge sitting out in everyone's way. When I FINALLY got the drift of counter depth fridges after coming here, it was way too late. SIGH...I love this forum and I know what to do the next time. I only hope I'm not too old, feeble and suffering with dementia to find you guys when I'm able to afford an update.

Can I see your Tan Brown granite?

We looked at granite today and I think we like Tan Brown, better than Dakota Mahogany. We have brazilian cherry floors and oak cabinets. Were going to do an island with black distressed cabinets.Would SS appliances look better with this dark granite choice, versus black appliances?? Is tan brown a good choice for combining oak and black cabinets, cherry floors and white trim ??Thanks for your pics.

lascatx I love that fan! Thanks so much! Do you think having a 30inch fixture is to big to put over a 42inch round table....even if it is, I think this is by far the nicest fan I've seen. The other one I loved was another one at Lowes, but when I went to buy it the salesman said the light was no better than a night light, which was not good for me... Cat Mom your Fan is beautiful, but think it's to contemporary for my kitchen. Thanks for showing it to me.

we did oil rubbed bronze with ours,i know a lot of people do stainless or nickel with cherry, but i liked the look of oil rubbed bronze.

Check out Sherrilea's Kitchen in the FKB. If you look at her "desk" picture (7th pic on the "Before & After" picture link).

I think it's black hardware, but I'm not sure.

I know this wouldn't be the type of "hardware" you would be interested in, since it's not a traditional style, but I thought I'd post the pic anyway to show you something that is black up against a deep red/Cherry/Mahogany cabinet.

These are stones from my Aunt's beach, Mineral Oil Rubbed.

My cabinets are stained SW Deep Cherry, which is a dark cherry-burgundy. The hardware is antique pewter, Schaub "Olde World" or birdcage style, and variations thereof. Sorry, no photos of my kitchen.
