Shelly, that might have been me. Since no response, I went on to other things and have just ordered custom cabinets from Adelphi. Hanssem is made in New Jersey,but is a Korean-owned company.

They are, I would say, on the low end of mid-range. I just checked their website and their standard cabinet box is melamine; plywood is a 20% upcharge, I think - but you'll learn more on the website.

Raynag, it doesn't sound like you think too highly of Hanssem. I am looking for a low to moderate priced, adequate quality frameless cabinet and I saw a door style and color I liked from Hanssem but maybe I should just forget about them.

If you are anywhere near Millburn, NJ, you can see them at Sawhorse on Millburn Ave. They sell them as their low-end line of cabinets. Top line is Kountry Kraft, full custom. However, if you do more than one upgrade, the cost approaches their mid-line cabinet, Acorn, which comes standard with many upgrades.

I'm using KK in my kitchen and have a quote for Hanssem for my laundry room and a large walk-in storage closet, as well as a basement bathroom. My rep highly recommended the drawer front upgrade on Hanssem, but he said if you upgrade anything else he'd steer me to Acorn.

Shelly, I saw these cabs at the beginning of my search but was not overly impressed; as smarge says, once you start to upgrade you're better off - both in quality and financial terms - with a better cabinet to begin with. There are lots of good but not top-of-line cabinets out there. Keep looking.

I've never used them, but whenever I'm in NYC and have passed their 72nd street showroom I have gone in and looked around for ideas and inspiration (their designs are often very clever for small spaces - which, of course, is often what you have in NYC apts)

i was going to get the white tuscany - hanssem is the frameless line the contractor i planned to use sells. the ones in the showroom seem decent, but since he's never bothered to get me a quote, i don't know if there were a lot of upgrades to get to that quality. so, i'm no helo with prices. i am lost likely gong with ultracraft - possibly kraftmaid venecia - depending on which shop i end up using.

raynag - small world! I live in S. Orange, but we bought a house in W.Orange and are completely renovating it, expecting to move in in March. Hi, neighbor!

A kitchen and bath store in Deer Park Long Island about 30 min. away sells only Hassem cabinets but his showroom looks so messy with cartons piled onto each other obscuring the door styles that it makes it unlikely that anyone can find what they are looking for.
Yet people must be buying Hanssem as stores sell them or they would go out of business.
At this time, I am slightly discouraged with what I hear about Hanssem.
I am looking for a frameless, very moderately priced cabinet that won't give me any aggravation with a light maple finish and a door that looks like the Camden door (framed Thomasville.) I have Omega door taste and a Thomasville door pocket.

Shelly, maybe you should start another thread, with "Long Island area" in the title.

"Share your L.I. area, mid-priced cabinet recommendations, please!"

PS. A friend of mine bought Dynasty cabinets and is very happy with them. That is Omega's semi-custom, less $$ line. They also have very similar door styles in Dynasty as Omega.
