Does anyone have anything good to say about Viking?
Comments (117)We bought entire suite of Viking Appliances 4 years ago. 36" dual fuel range replaced 3 times under warranty. Built in panal ready fridge replaced once. Built in dishwasher just had a pump replaced. Only 2 people live in the home. So glad I had extended warranty. Almost forgot the convection microwave replaced once and broke twice. I have no idea how reliable the other "premium brands" are. Appliances in the old kitchen were 25 years old still running....See MoreModern thick glass sink - anyone have any pictures?
Comments (18)Flying high you win the prize I looked all over the Internet and could not find the sink. You did, that is it! See the site you found shows the sink to be a more green rather then blue. I also see the sink is 82lbs. The guy that I purchased it from said 35lbs but the way he was struggling I said no way. When he put it into my car yesterday the back of my van went down. Yikes! Thank you all for your words of encouragement. I couldn't decide between the square or the round and I am still kicking it around. But the square is in my trunk. I wanted something ultra modern different and I think I got it. We got a super deal 439.00 including all the drain plumbing. I tell ya if you look hard enough there are local people trying to keep their doors open so give them a chance. There are others that won't get off their %$#. I ran into that yesterday too. Oh it is so frustrating some of these snooty shop owners. Oh gosh I am getting off topic. fnmrboberts thanks for sending your picture over I like the coloring you used and I also liked to see the example of the dark counter and a dark cabinet that was a great idea to repeat the frosted treatment on the mirror. Profrip Yes your right the Sirius line. I have made no definite plans on anything as far as color. It is such an issue. I like your thoughts on the white counter with the chips of green however those type of counters are a throwback to the old mica counters and I just can't wrap my head around doing that however I do like the idea. The only permanent decision would be this sink, which reads very green. dolfanz thanks for the comments on the upkeep and the rain-ex good point. I generally leave a stack of rolled white towels at each sink and I think we will have to get into the habit of using them for a quick wiping it out. I think I need to start a new thread "show me your bathrooms that used green!" I would like to do something different on the back wall behind the vanity. When I walk into my finished bathroom I want to be giddy like a school girl! My tile decisions could make or break that experience....See MoreDoes anyone have a Foster kitchen appliance? I can't find any reviews
Comments (4)I don't think you find many (or any) user reviews, This is a European centric luxury brand. I've seen their stuff and it looked great, can't comment on functionality or usage. Their website shows about ten or 12 dealers in all of North America. Nine in Florida, and the rest scattered with one each in Ohio, Hollywood, CA, TX and Vancouver, BC. That would raise a big red flag if you are in US or Canada. Everytime you need parts, service or support it will be a challenge, it could be done but they seem to be lacking a nationwide dealer network. I'd also say check ahead of time on installation needs, are the specs easy to read (in english?) Can electricians, plumbers and kitchen/architects/cabinet makers get the info they need? Not every appliance installer will be up to the challenge in this, you'll need to find the right one....See MoreCould anyone share any thoughts about this vintage dresser I picked up
Comments (23)Use a tooth brush and a good stripper. Don't go for a "safe" stripper....go for one that does the job so you don't have to sand lead paint. And never EVER use a belt sander on anything unless you are VERY V*E*R*Y experienced.....I have seen people who work wood for a living make a mess with a belt sander. And yes, lead is a real issue but the world is full of people like me who has stripped many many items and never worried about what kind of paint, who grew up in a house painted with white lead paint....and helped her father paint the fence with that same white lead, lived in a major metropolitan area where the air was full of the fumes from leaded gas. Grew up always letting the water run until it was cold because the house had lead soldered pipes.....and I don't let have brain damage nor kidney damage and the only time I have been anemic was a week after my first child was born. Not to Pooh-pooh the dangers of lead but unless your children are eating paint chips from the window sill and forgetting to let the water run through the lead soldered pipes, I don't think casual exposure is a big concern. But....Don't sand off the paint!! use a stripper! LOL1...See Morewillowdecor
