Off subject - what is the name of your granite?

My friend was a pro chef, and she has a white Silgranite sink too. Her's is used heavily, and after 8 years, still looks great.

My white Silgranit sink is going on three years old, now, and a quick scrub with baking soda and a squirt of dish soap makes it like new. I was sure that by now the white drain surround would be dingy and stained; nope.

The one thing I have read that seems to cause problems is when people wash paint brushes in them, so I'd try to remember to keep that away. Mine is Truffle not white but we had a bit of a scare the other day from (of all things) pollen. I had some Stargazer lilies in the house which produce a ton of reddish orange pollen, dumped out in the sink and they left a nasty yellow area. (I think saffron is pollen as well.)

We scrubbed it with some of the mildly abrasive ceramic stove top cleaner and it came up some but you could still see it. I think thought it's going away now but with these sinks I think it's microscopic sized particles that do somehow get into whatever pores it has.

I agree though, everything just sits on the surface and cleans up so nicely!

I don't think you need a Magic Eraser or abrasive cleansers for Silgranite. You can remove food stains with baking soda or a little diluted bleach. Don't use bleach around quartz counters though.

Great post and pics! This is going to one of those threads that people link to when the Silgranit-haters (Trebruchet, you there?) claim that Silgranit sinks stain and are hard to clean.

I know you focused on the tomato sauce, but it was also good to read that the sink is not affected by hard water. I never liked my old stainless steel sink cause it water-spotted from one second of the faucet running. My Silgranit sink is anthracite and shows nothing, but it's great to see the white color also is easy-care.

Beaches, we have the blanco granite in a biscuit color and we love how it looks and cleans.

I managed to "stain" my Cafe Brown with blueberries and was in a panic - but it came off
In reality - DH stained it but is it just fine.
Also - my quartz counters - nothing has stained them - I hear that Sharpies can mark it but told DH - no sharpies near sink or counter.

I absolutely love my Silgranit sink. It's my favorite feature of my new kitchen. I went with Truffle color too and is such a nice contrast to our granite. Would have never known about Silgranit if it wasn't for Gardenweb.com.

Another thing I love about these sinks are how quiet they are. We installed the same garbage disposal we had in our old ss sink, and now it is MUCH quieter.

I know some people don't like a deep sink, but I just love mine. Probably because I wasn't able to put a bigger sink in, so the depth makes up for the lack of size otherwise.

Why no bleach near quartz? As much as I try to break him of it, my husband is a fan of the bleach spray.

Another vote of confidence for silgranit sinks. I have black and it still looks as good as it did when installed 3 years ago.
