I'm a little confused. That Elkay sink is not a Silgranit sink. Silgranit sinks are made by Blanco. Blanco has a lot of patents on their granite composite Silgranit's proprietary composition, and I recommend you choose a Blanco over another brand's granite composite. Also, you can call Blanco and they will send you color samples which are very helpful.

Also, what is your "black granite"? Is it solid black, or some pattern that has a lot of black? Do you have a name for the granite?

I personally like the darker color Silgranit sinks like the anthracite and cafe brown; they are quite sharp with almost any granite, and will show nothing. Just my $.02.

What is the generic term for silgranit / e-granite? I think this is a case of Kleenex vs. tissue. :)

Does Blanco make a sink that matches my description? I couldn't find one in their product catalog or on their website. I would love a Blanco one after reading the rave reviews on this forum, but not if it means I can't have a standard (or wider) single basin.

The granite color is Opalescence:

It's the depth of the basin that makes the Blanco Silgranit Diamond super single not meet your specs, yes? I don't know that there is a "standard" depth; sinks vary widely.

@ellabee that would be perfect if it can be installed as an undermount! The website says it is drop-in only. Do you know anything about installing it as an undermount?

My husband just pointed out that it only has one hole. Is it possible to drill additional holes?

RIGHT after I hit "submit" I read on the product description that it can be installed as an undermount--woot!

So my only remaining questions are...

(1) can you drill additional holes into the sink (for a soap dispenser)?
(2) what color would work best with my kitchen?

Benjamin Moore Winds Breath cabinets, Opalescence granite counters. I prefer the look of white but worry about it being "too white" compared to my "off white" cabinets.

If you look at the spec sheet you will see the "knockout hole locations" - though it is predrilled for a single hole faucet. So, yes, it appears you can drill additional holes.

With re to color - as others have pointed out to me the key question is do you want your sink to stand out (white will) or do you want your counters to be the focal point and the sink to blend in? With your color scheme (and given the colors of your granite as shown by my monitor I was able to see samples near where I live. The white is very pretty - not an exceedingly stark porcelain sink type of white - and would probably work well with your cabs. I loved, loved, loved the metallic gray and if it will work with my stuff will probably go that way just because it was such a pretty color and a little sparkly with the metallic flecks. But, that will stand out in your granite also it looks like, though not as starkly as white.

Just FYI - I called to order samples and was told I had to request them by email to: literature@blancoamerica.com. Ordered mine on 6/11 and still awaiting their arrival.

go with any other color, like truffle, moka, chocolate or anthracite. Bright white won't work well. It will attract attention.

Having just had my counters and Silgranite sink installed, I'd definitely recommend you match the sink to the counters, not the cabs.

Thank you all for the info, especially to beeps for pointing out that a contrasting color would make the sink stand out, and a coordinating color would make the sink blend in. We went to Home Depot and discovered that the "White" Pegasus sink is a PERFECT match for our BM Winds Breath cabinets, and we really like the flecks of color throughout the material.

After searching this forum and reading the tips & tricks, and seeing several pictures of white Silgranit in dark granite counters, I am really excited about my sink choice. And it was significantly less than the $500 budget, so woot!
