Muskoka Mum - Cabinets are SW Dover White - laquered

Ejbrymom - Backsplash is creamy beige 3x6 tumbled marble. They actually did it today. I'll post pics below. The arched area has shelves that are not in place yet. I plan on keeping cookbooks, a basket for bread/fruit, and a knick knack or two there.

Amberley - Yes, it's a pantry door. The glass is frosted, still with the protective film on it. I'll see if I can find a better pic of it and post it below.

Doonie - Our ceilings are 9' in the kitchen and vault to 12' in the dining area. The chandelier is Savoy House Oxford, the 12 light one. I'm very happy with it. The quality seems good, and it was reasonably priced. I got it at LightingDirect.com. I plan on adding creamy white shades to it after the wood floors are done and the dust settles.:-)

Soooo pretty!! I see that you painted your ceiling the same color as your walls...I've heard of that before but what is the reason for that? Ive always wondered.

Odiegirl - Our island top is 42" x about 90", base is 39" x 78". I knew from early on that the micro would probably go in the island to save space and be close to the fridge. I also knew that I'd rather the micro be below the counter than up high. I'm only 5'2", so it's comfy for me. I also wanted my kids that are old enough to use it but too short to reach high to be able to get to it easy. I did make sure that I got a model with a child lock feature to prevent my littlest ones from playing with it. I don't really think they'd bother it, but better safe than sorry. Anyway, it took a little brainstorming to figure out the exact island layout, mainly because I was trying to squeeze everything I could into it without having any wasted space. I knew I wanted a decent sized sink base(it's 21"), good storage, and a trash pull out. And, I wanted it to look balanced from all angles on the outside. Took some brainstorming, but I'm super happy with how it came out.

MsRose - The paint is Tobacco Road, Duron formula from Sherwin Williams. I learned about it on the Home Decorating board, and I LOVE it so much. It's a warm, rich tan with golden undertones and seems to go with everything.

Cawfeegirl - Our main reason for doing the ceilings the same was cost savings. Painters charge a lot for all the color changes, and we already had a lot throughout the house. My first preferrence is when the ceilings are a lighter shade of the same color, but once we got to really looking we had a hard time figuring out how we would've accomplished that anyway. Our dining vaults and the way that it flows into the living room would've made it hard to do a separate color on the walls from the ceiling. The cool thing is that from different angles/times of day the ceilings actually do look a shade or two lighter depending on how the light hits them, and I love the way the ceiling color looks in the rooms where we have lots of crown. I think it's just all personal preferrence really.
