Please help date oak chairs
Comments (4)1880s??!!? Seriously? Holy Cow! I purchased them from a local thrift store (for $20 each and I live outside of Wash DC!) with the intent of changing out the fabric and reselling them. Wow - now I don't want to screw them up :-) The frame and finish are in amazing shape. Its the seats that are a mess. If you were me what would you do? Contact an antique dealer or professional upholstery shop? I really don't have room to keep them. Actually, I have been thinking of starting a small business of finding, fixing up older furniture and reselling the pieces. This is like an antiques roadshow moment :) Thanks !!!...See MoreOak Dresser-unsure on date, help please!
Comments (5)Fairly typical, machine made golden oak dating about 1915 to 25 or so. Good sturdy solid stuff.... Sadly people often painted them...I have stripped a few!!...See MoreHelp to date a chair please.
Comments (3)Nope, lots earlier than that....looking at the casters and construction, I would say about 1860 to 1890....an earlier period of Jacobeans tyle....See MorePlease help me with my dated brick ranch
Comments (49)Sherry, I know! the brick no longer looks orange and weird to me. We didn't even consider painting the brick. We bought a four-sides brick house so it would be lower maintenance. The trim painting really did the trick as far as making the brick, porch, and roof all blend together better. It really is surprising how just changing that one color seemed to change all of the different colors....See Morelyfia
