I have no table this year, but I'll give thanks for Maine cranberries right off the farm. Until I moved here I had no idea how incredible they are when they're fresh!

Too late... it's in our tummies

Too late for me, too. Wish I'd thought to take a pic. I think I was overwhelmed by how awesome it was to really cook in my new kitchen. I can't tell you how glad I am that I placed the layout/function of the kitchen above everthing else and that I spent so much time working on it during the planning stage. Such a better cooking experience than usual.

Isn't it a pleasure, breezy?!? What I loved most, I think, was how easy it was to clean up afterwards. My next-door neighbor loves my kitchen and asked if she could bring her whole family to see it. I said sure, spent all of 10 minutes cleaning up, and it looked fab. My old kitchen was such a horror and never looked really clean.

But this one includes the most important elements... ;-)

DH and I were alone this Thanksgiving. Lots of invites, but we decided to do a quiet day after having just returned from a little vacation. So it was an empty table at our house. DH had to watch his beloved Packers, so we ate on trays in front of the TV. When we do host Thanksgiving dinner, I use all the best linens, best china, the real crystal, good silver, etc. And we all dress appropriately. The grandkids love helping set the table, and it's a little education for them setting a proper place setting. I often do a craft project with them to make place cards and pretty napking rings out of ribbon. Great fun! They grow so fast, it won't be long and they will be rolling their eyes at me. But having everyone at the table is absolutely the best part!

Circuspeanut: forgot to mention that we live in cranberry country, too, here in Wisconsin. Your picture makes my mouth water. Love those fresh cranberries!!

Yes indeed, Joyce. (For sceptics, I try to explain that it's like comparing frozen corn and freshly steamed corn on the cob. If you've never had fresh you'll never know there's a big difference.)

Did a version with orange juice and Grand Marnier this year. Mmmmmm.

I had mine 2 weeks ago. Here is what it looked like just before dinner with my closest friends.

Just got delivery of a vintage Heywood-Wakefield set on Tuesday, so I had to run out and get a new tablecloth to fit the table. It's just us and MIL. As you can see, I'm still trying to figure out how all these pieces work together. The hutch is HUGE.

Didn't take picture of the tables, but MIL took a picture of the dessert buffet. Yum! I baked everything and made the whipped cream. SIL brought the fruit platter (a tradition).

Beautiful tables, everyone. I'm not much of a 'decorator.' Candles and a lineup of placemats was big-doin's for me! I usually let the food do the talking, but tried to step it up a bit this time. haha

Because of travel schedules, we had Thanksgiving a day late. The poor turkeys wait in the cupboard all year for their one hurrah.
