Charging Station in Command Center
Comments (14)justmakeit- I thought of your point as well. If it's so neatly tucked away and hidden, it will be a huge pain to get the cords out to travel or something. The tilt out door or something is an interesting idea, but I'm having trouble visualizing it. The new command center is designed but not built so I can't attach a photo, but these were my inspiration photos. It will have a shelf hanging down from the cubbies (kind of like in the 2nd photo) where we want to put all of our electronic devices to charge. Comments (9)Thanks Melissa .. I think I have finalized my design, but looking for appropriate components that will fit my cabinet. I am looking for a charger like this. This is 19" long, I need something that will fit in my 15" wide cabinet, so I need 14" long. There are individual switches on the front and the sockets for those switches are on the back. So all my chargers are always connected, and I can shut those off easily individually to save on electricity bleed. The charger will sit on the floor of the cabinet, I will put another shelf on top of the charger. The wires will be hidden behind in some false panel ... Anyone seen a surge strip that has switches in the front, sockets in the back and is smaller than 14" in length? (I should look for computer rack accessories, I think they should have those)...See Morecharging an iphone in the car
Comments (16)Little update to my experiment. I let my battery die. I plugged in my usb cord, NON Apple cord into the usb port in my car, turned the car on and within seconds the little faint battery showed up that it was charging...Which was weird, because the night before I had an Apple usb cord plugged in to the car port and drove around quite awhile and it never started charging. That is why I bought the 12volt adapter, figuring once the phone was dead, the usb port didn't provide enough power...but for whatever reason my cord, non apple cord worked fine using the usb port. So when I left work I did use the 12volt adapter and within about five minutes, it juiced up the battery enough to turn the phone on. Now they better not change the pin style of the next IPhone that comes out. LOL...See MoreElectric Vehicle Charging Stations in home garages
Comments (72)Except it was on my radar but I couldn't convince DH. Can't win them all. Being married to to a retired energy engineer, this is the kind of thing my DH loves. You don't want to know how many remotes we own, and -- yes -- he's a Star Trek. It's not just a stereotype. My neighbors are buying EV's and learning that charging is a disorganized wild west. I believe that. Again, that's why Canada is allowing itself 14 years "to get there". I cannot see how this is even remotely feasible for the near future here in the US. Not everyone lives in a nice suburban home with a garage. Don't you think Canadians live in cities and apartments too? I'd assume city dwellers own fewer cars /rely more upon public transportation. You don't have to have a garage to have a charger. My mom has a hybrid, and she has a charger on the side of her no-garage house. A LOT needs to take place before electric cars become law. Agree, but we have no control over whether it becomes law ... the discussion is how to prepare your own house: if, when, what, how? Those are the questions....See MoreGooster
