First, I love the colors you've chosen. Would you mind sharng the names/numbers of these colors? Are you planning on using them running horizontally or vertically in the running offset? Are you randomly alternating colors (i.e., you may have 2 or more of the same color together) or switching colors every other one? If you're worried they'll be too busy with your granite, invest in 10-20 tiles of each and put them up with tape and live them for awhile to see if your really like them.

The whiteish one is Tranquille and the blue/green Marina. I have no clue if I'll use them but I imagine if I did, I'd run them horizontally offset. If I like the two together, I would think that I'd run them randomly. Good idea about buying a number of them, (of course, depending on the cost) . I also LIke the Modulus line from Trikeenan. Just starting to keep my eyes open...:-). There is SOOOOO much out there to choose from!

The 2x8's with the Cristal Crackle glaze like pictured above is out of my league for a field tile.... over $56 per sq. ft. A regular crackle glaze is $38. Still steep, still beautiful... but for me, a bit too expensive for field tile (though they are special looking)

That was me with the wall of mosaic. Ours is a glass tile with a lot of variation, so it came "pre-designed". We didn't have to create any of the mosaic ourselves. Our glass tile is also in a "silk" finish which is more matte -- not as shiny and transparent as typical glass mosaic. I think it is sort of a middle ground between typical glass and ceramic.

Ours retails at $36 a square foot, but mosaicsource has sales a couple of times a year. I waited for a 40% off sale, which made it much more affordable. Maybe you can wait your supplier out for a sale?

jake... my bathroom glass tile is from mosaicsource and I plan on ordering some glass for my master from them too. I can get myself to spend some more for the glass accents but $50 for all the field, yanno... I gotta cut corners somewhere! Your kitchen is beautiful.

remodelfla - thanks for the compliment. Our kitchen spent about two years trapped inside my head before any poriton of it became tangible. And we difinitely scrimped in other places so we could spend the $$$ on the BS and on the quartz countertops.

sabjimata - you pegged it, indeed! I'll bet I looked at THOUSANDS of BS possibilities. When I hit upon the tile we eventually used it just rang out to me "this is the one". So, at that point, the price became . . . sort of . . . secondary. I still waited for a sale, though.

remodelfla, thanks so much for the names of those colors. They are both soooo pretty, but almost certainly too expensive for me :( There are just so many nice options for backsplashes--how does anybody every make a decision?

jakabedy, I've always really liked your backsplash. Quieter colors for a mosaic makes it easier on the eyes. Is your backsplash the penny rounds? I don't know if I could do the whole BS in it, but I was thinking it might work behind the range and then do subways for the rest.

Not the penny rounds -- ours is the stacked brick. I don't think they even had penny rounds when we bought our tile a year ago! But I'm thinking those penny rounds would look awesome in a shower surround.

Our tiles are 1" x 1/2", stacked in staggered rows. I'd never seen anything else like it, so I HAD to have it. If you click the link above it takes you straight to the page with our tile.

I used Status tiles on the range wall. Frosted Soda 4". I ordered a good many edge tiles (more $$) and have a box of 4" tiles left over. You would think the local tile company I ordered through would have gotten closer. Anyway, I don't remember off the top of my head how much mine was, and my paperwork is all downstairs. The frosted was less than the crackle and they certainly had more expensive ones with designs. The color is (the only) perfect choice with my honed golden leaf granite, so price was second on the list.

Just pick up the phone and call someone! ;) It is nice tile..and I do wish I had remembered to tell my guy to stagger and make the joints minimal. :( I need a do-over but it would make a mess.
