Comments (28)My contact at Ayr was also Ken, same as salviastreet's. ooooh, I can't wait to see your kitchen, please share pics as it's going in :) Ken was phenomenal!! He never said no to anything I asked. My kitchen is 100% custom and was designed down to the 1/8". I have 30" deep cabinets with full depth drawers on two sides, not one single filler or wasted inch of space. I have a pull out cutting board, a spring loaded cutting board, toekick drawers, pullout pantry, bread drawer, a trash can that pulls out on both sides of the peninsula and the list goes on - you name it, Ken and his guys made it happen. When we had problems with our built in fridge and freezer units, Ken came through with replacing the panels with completely new ones to fit the different brand units. When the electricians butchered my cabinets, Ken got them fixed so you would never know. The guy is a genius and super nice to boot. Heck I would have been frustrated with me and he never was (or if he was, and actually he must have been LOL, he absolutely never once let on to me.) THANK YOU KEN!! SO that's my recommendation and I am sticking by it!...See MoreCustom Cabinet maker in Chicago area?
Comments (4)We're in the western suburbs. On the recommendation of our GC We used Northstar cabinets in Posen (for kitchen, mudroom and 4 bathrooms) and were very happy with them. This was 3 1/2 years ago. http://www.northstarcabinet.com/ (I did try going through them last summer for an additional mudroom cabinet and had a hard time getting a quick response, so I don't know if that was due to it being just a small order or what.) A friend of mine is a designer who has done several kitchens in the western suburbs and north shore. She uses Brakur and has been very happy with them: http://www.brakur.com/ Finally, 3 people I know used Amish cabinet builders and got beautiful cabinets for what they felt was a really good price. Their contact was Mike Spence so I Googled him and found him here: Amish-Craft 400 Elm Street Humboldt, IL 61931 (217) 856-3811 HTH...See MoreLooking for Amish cabinetmakers near NJ
Comments (6)Nyyankeesfan - Thank you for the recommendation. I have spent a week reading all the threads about Dutch wood on this site. I have contacted them but I have some concerns about hiring someone else for the install. Since I am doing a remodel on a 100 year old house I am assuming nothing is square. Aren't the installers going to have to do some on-site tweaking to make it fit perfectly? I guess I also don't really understand why they would drive all the way out to drop off the cabinets but they can't stay to install for an added price. I really love their work and their price but I was hoping for someone a little closer to me so I wouldn't have these concerns. Any other (closer) leads would be greatly appreciated....See MoreAmish Cabinets
Comments (56)If you are in this area also check out www.kustomkabinetry.com. I used them and the experience was phenomenal. They are Mennonite and work with an Amish builder that does the doors. I have solid cherry, all totally custom. They use computer software to help with planning and do the install. Any pictures I showed them they made it happen. Definitely not the deal déjà has, but still cheaper than the box stores with MUCH better service and quality. I contacted Mr. Yoder and he was up to a year waiting list and we were not comfortable doing so much of the work on our end, and only communicating by mail. Amazing deal if you can make it work. Good luck!...See Morecountryatheart
