question about farm house sink and soap stone
Comments (4)I doubt it. Most farmhouse sinks are scribed to fit in the cabinet base. Occasionally you do see them resting on a shelf however. Most also are very heavy and need to be supported by structural members inside the cabinet/cabinet frame. Do you see yourself wanting to replace the sink later on, or are you afraid of damage? If it is the latter, I would use GW, etc. to research the most durable sink for your needs. If you purchase a quality sink, you shouldn't have issues later on. Maybe some one will chime in with a "removeable" installation method, but as far as I know, the only type of sink that you can uninstall without disturbing other components is a drop in....See MoreQuestions for those with farmhouse sinks
Comments (5)Farm sinks are amazing. You don't have to reach over a large chunk of granite to get to the sink. Splashing is not an issue for us. We have a wonderful Waterstone faucet that reaches every inch of the sink. Getting the right sink with the right faucet is key. I was give quite an education by Dino Rachielle. He is a kitchen designer that happens to own a sink manufacturing company and also offers faucets. We bought what they call the Smarter Sink. This baby is the bomb! Comments (6)Realistically, that’s probably not going to happen. You can go for a slight positive or negative reveal, but a perfect reveal is going to be pretty hard to get. Add in that a Fireclay sink isn’t exactly going to be perfect, either, and you’re chances of it are going down even more. If she’s adamant about not wanting any sort of ledge or area where dirt can get trapped, a solid surface counter with integrated sink is probably the only way to achieve it. Signed: someone who has installed IKEA cabinets and farmhouse sinks in two different kitchens, with quartz counters. ETA: Not that a zero reveal is impossible, but you’re going to be paying a pretty penny to find a fabricator who is willing to do it, and do it right. And that doesn’t exactly line up with IKEA-priced cabinets....See MoreNew Construction- Retrofit Farmhouse Sink?
Comments (14)Joseph will give you details:) Just wanted to say I love my short apron Whitehaven. Kohler makes this sink in two apron styles - "short apron" and "tall apron". If you have a standard sink base cabinet, you need to order the "short apron" style - I think that has been said and the order numbers given, but I just wanted to make it clear. Sometimes when ordering it is in the small print on whether it is a short or tall apron - so be sure you order the correct sink. The sink is easy to install because it has a self facing apron and the cabinet does not need to be exactly scribed to the sink as in a traditional farm sink....See Morepinch_me
