white/creme limestone or marble without too much grey or brown?
Comments (2)What's in a name? What I mean is that SOME slabs of Carrera are much less grey. SOME slabs of Calacatta or Crema Marfil have much less brown. Bianco Romano granite is marbley-looking and lusciously creamy - except for some slabs which have more brown and are beautiful in a different way. Winter Cloud marble, Crema Breccia, Leuters Limestone, even white onyx -- all might fit your needs. (Or might not, depending on the slab.) What I'm saying is that when it's almost time to actually buy and install your stone, THEN call around to the stone yards in your area and tell them what you're looking for. NOT by name - which is often inconsistent yard to yard, but by a description of the ideal appearance. They should know what they have that matches your description....See MoreHELP!! Comments (4)Take a look at travertine in a light ivory. It seems to go with everything. I have travertine on my bathroom floor, shower, and tub deck, then used crema marfil marble for an accent. It looks serene and beautiful! If you use the 18" travertine tiles, cut to 9 x 18 for the tub surround, there won't be that many grout lines. Get the installer to use "butt joints" in the tile so the grout lines are just teeny. Another alternative would be to go with a black and white theme....See Moreplease help....marble on cherry, honed black on white--too much?
Comments (5)Thank you so much for the help and photos--your kitchens are beautiful!----my head has been spinning thinking about all of this! I can picture the combination working. Can you tell me if you think this combination would work better/worse: Antique perimeter w/black honed, antique island w/wood, cherry wet bar/carrara marble? I'm guessing it's an OK combo no matter how it's put together, but I guess I'm thinking that the cherry on the island instead of the wet bar makes it feel more grounded since it's in the middle? Does it matter either way?...See MorePlease help with color -- White kitchen cabs but not too white -
Comments (22)When I was mulling over whites, I narrowed it down to 4, all BM: 1) Mascarpone (too yellow), 2) White Dove (too gray) and 3) Simple White and 4) Cloud White. Simple White and Cloud White were my finalists. My painter painted two old cabinet doors in each color and they lived on my kitchen counter in various locations for a couple of weeks. I loved them both, could discern a difference, but couldn't quite say how they were different. I went with CW, and it was more an emotional decision. SW is whiter and if you want something with a little less cream, it's a very good choice. It's not a stark white. If you search GW for Breezygirl's kitchen, you'll see it in action. BTW, 4 years later and I still love Cloud White and would choose it again for a white kitchen....See Moretrudymom
