Timing Order for small kitchen improvements

Our electric stove (freestanding range) died, and I'd love to replace it with a slide-in range. As so frequently happens, my desired scope of work now includes new countertop and backsplash (existing is ancient formica), and new undermount sink and faucet.

My question is this: what is the best order of work?

I'm guessing it's good to have appliances/sink before doing countertop template, but what about backsplash? And re: backsplash -- am considering same granite as countertop to make small space feel larger. However, countertop is 1-1/2 inch thick, which seems much too thick for backsplash. Expo store said adds $10/sf to cut it to 3/4 inch thickness. Any suggestions?
