Why do people say things like...I'm praying a new kitchen or..
Comments (80)Agree also about God's will. Plenty happens that is NOT His will---because WE have the free will to do as we please. It is the discernment of His will that is the difficult part... trying to figure out which path or action would best serve that will.... and those are usually found by following the commandments, the golden rule, etc. By acting in accordance with those tenets we have a better chance of placing our actions in God's will than by doing whatever we damn well please, regardless of the consequences. I know many people think religion useless, but I am a pragmatist and think quite the opposite. If a person is truly trying to live in accordance to God's will, by looking carefully at his or her actions in the light of the commandments and the example lived by Jesus (or Buddha, or other revered prophets), that process makes the person a better citizen and improves our society....See MoreAnother plan-need help. Comments (17)From what I understand, there is no recycle collection so I am not sure how we will handle trash. We are so used to recycling in our primary home. So they could get tossed together, but may not hurt to have a recycle bin in case they change eventually (or if we find some recycle containers somewhere ourselves). The trash will go out the back sliders. That is a good point on the island.. we were thinking of a longer island, somewhere around 80"+ to have comfortable seating for 3 and then possibly a smaller stool around the side for overflow seating (more likely a kid if we are at the dining table) and maybe even squeeze in a 2nd smaller stool as needed) . We were just discussing if we would want the larger ikea slab (97x25.6) and cut the length to ~80" but run them side by side to have a wider island-but that seems awfully big. We will have to test out the various overhangs to see what is comfortable. I imagine it would be the kids there alot or the ladies sipping a nice drink while I prep/cook. Not sure how we would use the rest of the space if the cabinets ran 24" deep in the island. Then we are left with 24+" of overhang behind it. Overkill? I will check out the ikea fans web as well! thanks-peeked at it , but seems beyond what I can absorb right now! They are very clever with all their tricks! Not sure I understand it all....See Morequick opinion needed! not sure I should do what I'm thinking of
Comments (45)hi OB2B, so nice to meet you today? did you enjoy the tour? I had a chance to see a few of the houses this afternoon. It was a great day. steph2000, thanks so much! i think you are right re: the semi-flush. right now I am going to take a breather until the hood is ready. I pushed really hard to get this done for the tour today -- there were so many people here this week. will be nice to take a little break. deedles, I purchased the wolf 20" riser with shelf for behind the range. it isn't up yet. the guys were having trouble sliding the range out. the riser has to attach to the back of the range (i would have assumed it could just attach to the wall) and so the range has to slide out. The marble countertops are very tight to the range with really no gap at all so it was difficult for them and they were rushing so much to get so many things done that I suggested we address it later when they can slow down a little (I was a little afraid of them damaging the doors on my range ... they were pullling on them trying to slide it out and that was definitely not okay with me!)....See MoreDo not buy an Ikea kitchen right now...
Comments (102)I initially started my kitchen reno March 2020. Had absolutely nothing ordered and my husband told me to run to IKEA and order everything that night because covid lockdown was going to take place in 24 hrs. Ran to home depot, rented a truck, drove 25 miles to the store and bought the entire kitchen. We were the last order pick up before lockdown happened. After that, everything went out of stock and nothing could be found. Recently found myself breaking my corner cab to pieces to access a water pipe issue and cried like a baby because the corner cab was out of stock with no eta. Tried in vain not to have to tear out the original cab and cussed my contractor out in my mind bc he glued and brad nailed the laminate counter down and we couldn't get it off without breaking the cabinet. I luckily got the very last corner cab in stock at the store when I went for replacement countertops. I cried with happiness like a baby and the IKEA rep looked at me like I was crazy. Little do they seem to know how hard it is to get anything in and they have no idea when they'll get inventory. IKEA is beyond a mess right now. It will take a lot for them to get back to a decent normal with everything going on in Europe and stock issues in general....See Morechinchette
