cabinet at the end of run next to penisula
Comments (13)I had my cab maker draw me a lay-out with the end cabinet to the counter but I was afraid it would interfere with my sink, which, as I'm looking at it right now as I'm getting dinner ready and have dishes piled up, it would have. I also thought it would be awkward to get into that appliance garage. I did the open shelf because I'd never have to try to get into it except to pull out a cookbook. Chinchette, I left 12" past the upper cabs to the counter edge. I wanted all three doors and the open cab to be the same width and be able to reach into the third cab. It didn't make sense to add an inaccessible cab to get me to the end of the peninsula. I had to make them the same width as the ones on the other side of the range. It was quite the balancing act to make all the upper cabinets symmetrical....See MoreInstalling cabinet end panels
Comments (3)Position it where you want it and put a few or 4 screws into it from inside the cab. Clamps help as well as pre-drilling. Not sure what you mean by "flush". An 1/8" back from the front of the face is fairly common as it's easiest to make it work all different door overlays. Anything other than full overlay would look kind of strange with a flush side panel. With full overlay, I like the panel to come out from the cab a bit to sort of mimic an inset design when the door is closed....See MoreGable ends at end run dishwasher and oven cabionet question
Comments (4)We went flush with the doors. IIRC, we ordered a big 3' x 8' cover panel and cut it down to make the two island ends. That way we could make it the exact size we needed. We let it drop straight down without notching it back for the tokick area. We also went with a flush countertop, too, to keep the modern vibe....See MoreNeed picture of end of cabinet run with quartz installed
Comments (31)I have another question in this discussion: why it is so necessary to use plywood base + 2 cm material, fabricate edges 3 cm thick, then laminate all this on to the counter? Lots of action while creating a lot of work... while you can use 3cm (1.25") material for the counter and make sure your cabinets are not just dropped on the floor, but leveled on the top. This way there will be no gaps, no allowances and all the seals is thin silicone line all around your counter-top and cabinet joint line, everything leveled and strait. All you need to do is polishing the edge to the profile needed. Also, I could not ever understand why counters has to be shimmed, ask the cabinet guy to do his job right and have a perfect level on the top surface level of all cabinetry work, other-wise all you counter and the tile will be out of whack. Well, unless it is some rental or investment property, and all you need is beef it up a little....See Moreamylovesbud
