Show me your biscuit silgranite sinks! Please...

Hi all!

Demo started today-YIPPEE!! We thought we were going to be able to keep our current SS sink but the contractor couldn't get it off the old granite without bending it (it's undermounted with silicone) soooo...looks like we are going to need a new sink afterall.

I am interested in the silgranite sink in biscuit as we are going with golden caramel granite (has creamy tones) and deep warm cherry cab's. Does anyone have any pic's to share?

Here's pics of our biscuit silgranit sink. It sometimes clashes slightly with our granite which is more cool, but it sounds like it will go beautifully with your golden caramel granite - please post pics of it as it sounds yummy!

redroze...could I beg you to post one more photo "up close" showing your granite and your sink? I am choosing lowly Formica but would love to be able to see if I think the biscuit color would work with it. You've already helped me immensely. I was thinking of a black sink and now I'm not so sure.

By the way, I think your granite and sink are beautiful! I love the shape of your faucet, too.

I have biscuit. I thought I wanted the metallic gray but then I loved the way the biscuit looked with my light countertop. I have had my sink since the day after Christmas. Honestly, mostly I rinse it with water. Occasionally I rub it with water and my cleaning rag. I cleaned it once with Bon Ami but only because I felt guilt that I had never cleaned my sink. I cook three meals a day, make my own bread, yogurt, granola,etc.. This is not a for show only sink. I wonder if the people who mention staining have the old formulation of silgranite, I have silgranite II From GW Photos

I have the biscuit and LOVE it! No, it does not stain or show dirt. I've had red wine, blueberry juice, you name it in it with no problems. After I get the dishes in the DW, I swish the soapy scrubber sponge around the sink, which takes care of most stuff. Then I use Barkeepers Friend as needed (rarely more than once or twice a week). It's so much easier to keep than my old white sink I can hardly believe it. I would be more concerned about the anthracite showing water or soap spots. Will try to post a picture tomorrow.

I have the BlancoSelect 509-302 undermount in a 24-inch cabinet. The outer size is 22 15/32" side to side, with 21 1/4" inside. Front to back it is 20 5/32" outside, and 19" at the bottom. The sides of this sink are nearly vertical. The depth is 8" which I find adequate since it is an undermount. The drain is centered in the back, and the sink has clipped back corners which is where the faucet, instant hot, soap dispenser, and disposal button are mounted. I have a full height door attached to a drawer. Since the drawer is only about 6" deep, cross piece bracing was added so the door will not eventually pull away from the drawer. A half moon was cut out of the top of the drawer's back side to accommodate the plumbing. In this cabinet are the Instant Hot box and a 3/4 hp disposal. A 1/2 gallon bottle of Dawn used to sit on a shelf for the NeverMT, but my husband never took to it do to initial dispensing issues, so that little shelf sits empty. In the drawer are the 10 gallon Big Bin covered trash can from The Container Store and various cleaning supplies, 2 spray bottles, and clutter. The fact that it is a drawer means much more space is practically available than I had in a larger cabinet with a disposal mounted under a center drain. I highly recommend my sink and $ink grid. Be good to your plumber because the installation of sink and accoutrements is about as tight as it gets -- do-able but not fun, esp. cramming in the disposal. I doubt that 1 hp would fit. We rarely use our disposal, and since 3/4 hp is the least that is recommended, went with that size. BTW, my cabinet is a regular 24" cabinet by Brookhaven. You need to think about the inside dimensions of the cabinet, and the outside dimensions of the sink itself AND take into consideration the size of your faucet and accessories. I had no space to stick my instant hot in the back, back corner; wouldn't be able to turn it on. Couldn't center my faucet at the back; again no room. With the instant hot in one corner and the faucet in the other, it enables me to get hot water for cleaning from the side while my husband is using the regular faucet in the other corner. I love this sink!

Here's our prep sink (16" circular anthracite silgranite sink which I think is 8 or 9" deep) in a 24" base cabinet at the end of the peninsula. It has a full size garbage disposer and because it's in the middle of the room EVERYTHING comes up through the base of the cabinet, so there is hot water, cold water, disposer, two never m-t's, dishwasher, air switch for the GD, electric for the DW and GD and separate electric for the light switches on the outside of the cabinet. I am hoping DH can build me a little shelf above the soap for a little extra storage..

Thanks so much redroze! Love it! What is your granite?

Also, how do you like the one bowl sink. I have always been adamant about having a smaller bowl for my disposal (yes, we always have dishes in the sink tsk tsk...) but LOVE the look of the large single bowl. Decisions, decisions...

christen 7 that granite is absolutely beautiful! Do you know if it goes by another name? I think it would also go with the Cafe Brown Silgranite sink.

Pfmastin - Thank you so much, and no begging necessary! My advice is to go to your local Home Depot or sink/faucet store and see the biscuit colour in person, and bring a sample of your Formica. So as not to take over this post, here is one close-up photo of our Bianco Antico granite and a link to more photos.

Christen7 - I l-o-v-e the single bowl sink, but I don't know if I would have done it without a prep sink in the island which we have. I don't have a disposal (in Canada we have a "green bin" program for food waste). That golden caramel is wonderful!!! I agree, I think the brown silgranit sink would look great with it and you won't have to worry about matching the tones BUT I have a weird feeling biscuit will look good too.

I chose the biscuit silgranit because it went well with my granite which I describe as tan/caramel color with some quartz and also grey veining. It was sold under the name Sunny Flower but was probably named after importing. Anyways, I've had the sink about 5 months and absolutely love it! I hope you'll be just as happy.

Thank you redroze! This has been a big help. I went to HD last night with Formica sample in hand and guess what? No one was working in the kitchen/bath dept, there were no Pegasus sinks in biscuit....and no samples to look at. Sigh. It might be worth a trip to Raleigh to see and touch a real sample. Yours looks beautiful!

CMPM-sorry it took me so long to reply (demo in process...) I'm not sure if the Golden Caramel granite goes by another name, I asked the granite guy if it might also be called 'Golden Oak' but he said that that is different and that Golden Caramel is somewhat "new" to our area (Milwaukee Area)

pfmastin-I also went to HD to look and could only find one (on display, 20 ft. up in the air) called "Sandstone".

At any rate, my husband has vetoed the Silgranite (I was 50/50 for SS anyway) and we are going to go with the creased stainless (Ticor). Aye, aye, aye we're just all over the place with our decisions...

christen7: We are also from the Milwaukee area and have chosen Golden Caramel. Are you happy with your choice? I'd love to see pictures. My husband wants to do the Golden Caramel on the perimeter and black on our island. Not sure about the black island though. Thanks.
