I have a double DD and wish I only had a single. There is no reason you couldn't do some kind of open shelving, drawer or cabinet with door underneath a single. Mine is F&P. They are no quiet (the top is less noisy than the bottom - which I never run, btw) so if you're looking for a silent DW, this is not the one.

I've never seen chicken wire offered in any cabinets. My cabinets were custom and I requested chicken wire.

I have the double Fisher and Paykel tall drawers. The single tall should be able to have a small cabinet below it. Unfortunately for you the market in dishdrawers is pretty small and they are basically unilaterally the same. I was told KA just licenses the rights to the FP drawers of a few years earlier and builds it under their name. FP was the pioneer of the technology and it hasn't moved into all the brands yet, thus they are "best" in that department.

A drawer underneath I think would be better than a door.

I don't know anything about dishwasher drawers...but as far as the chicken wire cabinet doors, I am sure a custom cabinet maker could configure something...for a price. It SHOULD be a savings because you would theoretically be using less wood. I do think they are charming; HOWEVER, I would worry about all the dust that would have access to your dishes and glasses...that would be my only concern.

As long as you use the dishes and glassware there isn't a problem with dust, etc.

The pine hutch, left of fridge, has chicken wire doors on either side of the double plate rack. The black coffee station hutch has two horizontal doors with wire.

Thanks, everyone, for the advice. I, too, have wondered about dust getting into a cabinet that had chicken wire. But I guess, as Allison said, if you were in that cabinet frequently, getting plates, glasses, etc., dust may not build up. By the way, Allison, I've seen your kitchen before and I never tire of looking at it. It's gorgeous!

I'm wondering if any cabinet manufacturer might make doors that have glass and then the chicken wire behind the glass so that you get the look, but don't have to worry about dust.

So it sounds like F&P are still basically the only show in town as far as dish drawers. I remember seeing them when they first came out years ago, and liking them. I was thinking that maybe other companies had wandered into that territory by now, but as the one poster said Kitchenaid's dish drawers are still basically F&P, so I will likely just go with a single F&P if I do a full remodel.

Any advice on which brands of wine fridges are the best?

Well wine fridges range in price. I know based on reviews and having a few friends who own them that Perlick makes the best wine fridges, but they are NOT cheap. I had a Danby kegerator which kicked out after about a year and a half, so I would be hesitant to buy from them again.

From what I've read online, the glass with wire inside (not very attractive) is thinner than regular glass and quite dangerous if broken.

I have the F&P dishdrawers, love them. In fact not too long ago, I did a little photo-diary of a 9x13 pan that had cherry cobbler in it. And the other was a 9x13 with "dirt" in it--the chocolate pudding dessert... Pictures to follow.

I am looking to put a single tall tub on each side of my sink in my next kitchen. I rarely use the bottom drawer. I try to run it once a week with the baffles from the range vent. I also am trying to figure out what goes under the single drawer.
