Ideas on Fence Colors other than White?
Comments (8)Hi, I'm recycling dog ear fence boards to cover my chain link fence and searched for different color fences on the internet and around the neighborhood without much luck. You're right about them mostly being white. I went to HD and collected a bunch of color samples, sat down with DH, and we each picked colors we could live with, then put them together and decided which we could both live with. We took those colors out and looked at them with the plants we have (no dreary winter here in So Cal, but those dark red barns with white trim always look pretty in snowy pics). A lot of colors could have worked, greens, peaches, and lavender greys looked good. Flowers, plants and birds, etc. could be painted on the boards to brighten them up more. We settled on a golden, sunflower yellow. HD had a light tan, yellow looking mis-mixed exterior paint in a 5 gallon drum for $15. The paint guy there told me what colors to mix it with to get close to the color we chose. You may luck out on mis-mixed paint. Search the internet for 'art fence', 'unusual fence', 'wooden fence', and maybe 'snow photos' or 'winter photos'. If you email me, I'll send you some fence pics found online and the (slow) progress of my fence. Linda...See MoreUsing an item for something other than intended
Comments (4)Sounds promising! I googled it and didn't find any pictures of one. I'll go shopping tomorrow and see what I can find. I've been thinking about swivels for hanging plants anyway. this sounds like it will be even cheaper than swivels! I also need something other than wire to hang things from tree limbs. Thanks....See MoreIs HD travertine different than other travertine?
Comments (4)I used HD honed, filled, classic travertine for our master bathroom floor. Our tile installer laid it and grouted it, beautifully, and then I sealed it with a non-color enhancing, matte sealer. The HD sales person advised us to use ceramic instead as it requires less upkeep, or so she said. However, the travertine has been very easy to care for and we are extremely pleased with it. Elsewhere, I read there is no true travertino classico left, the filled stuff is lesser quality, and all sorts of reasons not to by the HD version. For our purposes, however, it has been great. It looks no different from the samples we saw at a to-the-trade only showroom that charged much more for their travertine....See MoreWhat is extra cost to run new circuit rather than daisy chain?
Comments (4)Well, the reason I have this question is because there are a few receptacle here and there that I would like to have as separate circuits, so that I don't have to trip the breaker if I happen to have 2 power hungry appliances running. If the cost were trivial, then it would be no problem. As I have said, I think that running the wire from the breaker to the location would be as easy as simply walking along the perimeter of the attic, and thus the only extra cost would be the cost of the wire (which is quite low now - YAY!) For example, in the kitchen, I could get by with a single circuit to run the microwave, toaster oven, lights, other receptacles. But it would be better for me to have a separate circuit for the microwave and toaster oven. So the question is how much more would it cost for me to have all those receptacles and fixtures be run off of 1 breaker, or 3....See MoreClarion
