I don't know if perhaps the grout lines are a little wider than what you would like but it looks like the tiles themselves have rough rather that smooth edges and rounded rather than sharp corners. Tiles with rough edges and rounded corners are very difficult to lay because the setters are trying to play the differences between the tiles. No two tiles are the same wrt to edging.
We have slate tile in our front entrance, rough-edged backsplash tiles, and travertine in our bathroom - all with rough edges. Our tile setter was very careful about explaining, at the beginning of the job, what he could and could not do in terms of laying out the tiles precisely. He also explained that grout lines would not be perfect and in some places would be wider than others.(He then preceded to curse my choices for 3 days while laying out and setting the tile)

I won't weigh in on what my problems are until I see what other people think because I don't want to bias any opinions.

In the first picture the tile to the left of the "wet tile" looks like it isn't lined up correctly and the actual "wet tile" looks like the corner is chipped off or just formed differently, but I agree with the previous poster. If you are getting tiles that are not all 100% SQUARE, then there is no possible way to have them line up perfectly.
That said, up close, you can see imperfections, but I don't feel they are the result of a poor job, just the nature of the tile itself. The pictures that are taken farther away look really nice. The floor has lots of character BECAUSE of the imperfections in the tiles.

I cant see anything. the spacing looks proportionate, the corner looks more rounded than the others, but it looks like thats the kind of tile it is--handmade or tumbled. What I cant tell fromthose pictures is if its level...

As long as there isn't significant lippage, which is difficult to photograph, then I think it looks fine. It showcases the variability of the tumbled tile.

Thanks for the opinions. Maybe we are being a bit picky because we have had problems with these tile people before, but we weren't happy about the broken corner on the tile next to the "wet tile" and we weren't happy that all of the tiles with imperfections were clustered together in one area while all the other tiles are smoother. We also didn't think the grout would be even everywhere, but maybe that is to be expected with this type of tile.

To my inexpert eye, the grout lines (to be) are not all the same width; however, it does not look bad to me -- looks within tolerance, IMHO.

What does "wet tile" mean?

I think perhaps this is going to become the part of your floor you'll like most, the part with the character and the divets. Spacing a couple tiles together both with divets will make this the divet-section. It will seem genius for having thought to place them together and define an actual section of this. You will grow fond of the imperfection.

I don't know you and perhaps it won't come to pass. But really, I think this is like the story I recounted once of the *horrible* hand-built bowls I once made four of, and smashed two of before the best potter I knew stayed my hand. She said I would grow to become especially fond of the bowls precisely because of their imperfection ... and she was right. I do think, if you let yourself, you could grow to great fondness for this situation about the inherent, organic, earthenness of the beautiful tile you've chosen. They've been laid out to very subtly highlight that precious quality. Give em a bonus (...not! $2400 is enuff ;) )

Beagles -- I think it looks lovely. It will be horrible if you don't come to see it in this light, but fwiw, from here it's just very, very peaceful.

i'll ditto aliris and also make it clear that you might have a leg to stand on if you maintain to them that you will pay them less than their asking price.

I think the problem partly comes from the fact that everything else has been done too well on this project, LOL. The floor guys were so careful in picking out boards that went well together, and of course my cabinet maker has been amazing, so it just frustrates me to have these imperfections showing up here.

But, perhaps I will come to love them.

I can guarantee you anyone walking into that door is NOT going to notice imperfections and will note the beauty of the inlay. It really is beautiful:-)

Gorgeous! My first thought was handmade tiles and they have "character"-as in not machine made perfect. I bet once the grout is done you will love it!

I don't think that anyone is ever going to notice a tiny bit of difference in grout lines on a floor ~~ it isn't like it is something that is eye level, so IMHO, it looks good...not something I would haggle over.

We once had a less-than-perfect tile job done, and at first I noticed it every time I walked into the room. Now, I don't notice it at all. :-) Life and time have a way of fuzzing over things like this.

These tiles are not cut perfectly square, so they may look off some. Wait until it is grouted. You will love it. I, think it is beautiful. Wait until I, tell my husband, he, is doing one for me.

Think of grout like panyhose. They hide a world of evils but are necessary. Your lines do not look that far off on my monitor. The grout (which BTW is a terrible sounding word to me)will hide many imperfections.
